Thread: Maybe LS resist armor?

I posted this in another thread but thought it might need its own discussion?
Armor Categories
Under the new system, armor will be divided into four new categories: None, Reconnaissance, Battle, and Assault. Each category has its own set of unique appearances. Currently there are three appearances for each category, but under this system we will be able to add as many as we would like later on. Each category will mitigate damage to a greater or lesser degree based on the weapon mode of the attack it is currently defending against. In all cases, however, the armor will reduce the damage received by some amount- there will be no situations in which wearing armor actually results in the wearer suffering more damage than an unarmored person would.
does this mean some armors will have LS resists? what you guys think?

If we have LS resists then that puts Jedi at a dis-advantage, Now if they can wear armor too then its balanced, The only reason they dont wear armor is that they have a damage type nobody can defend against.

i dont see why we cant have them .. there are several LS resitant minerals in SW lore but most were considered worthless for one reason .. very few people carried LS's so it wasnt used because there was no need to.

Yea with the damage reduct of all weapons they will probably come out with some form of protection against lightsaber with one of hte new sets

I see a solution...
Cartosis (lightsaber resistant material from EU books and lore)
VERY rare and hard to fine... Maybe spawns once every 3 months in such small quantities that the price is astromonical.
Only Master Armorsmiths can even work with the materials to make a layer which can then be used in certain armors
To balance things out a little bit allow Jedi to wear certain types of armor. Under the new system that would qualify as the lesser forms (Recon type stuff).

I imagine you have all thought of this and dismissed it because of what it is, but Tantel is LS resist. I am very new to AS but that was one of the first things I noticed as I have a couple BH buds. I haven't tried anything with it yet and maybe I won't as I am coming in right on the release of all this new info. Seems to me though that alot of AS agree that the less used armors will be come more useful again, then maybe a slight tweak to the Tantel and you'd get yer wish.

my alt is AS on euro-farstar... she's only 2103, but she already had her first order of Tantel Armour for a jedi-hunting BH. it had a small resist, buti didn't have very good resources/skills. heard the resists were gone after some time... that only means that i'll be selling that Bh several sets 
she's even willing to pay 50k a set, so im gonna earn quite some here

its a bug the resist isnt really there, currently only PSG's help vs sabers.

My guess is that we'll get lightsaber-resistant layers, maybe at the cost of base resistances.

Bounty Hunters would love LS resist armour (PSGs get eaten through).
However, before it should be added, the factor of Melee BHs needs to be taken into account.
Currently, a melee BH can rip through even higher level padawans with ease, due to their low melee defence.
If this is addressed in the CURB, then LS armour would be great.
However, I believe it should only have LS resist, and minimal resists to everything else.
Also, the LS resist should be quite low, even with the best resources.
Maybe a max of 40% ?
