Oh and what does the Imperial Prototype Personal Shield do? I have the schematic for only 5 uses. Is it better than a standard PSG?

Well, welcome to the fold! Best piece of advice, and its going to cause much stress, is harvest everything you can, even if the OQ/SR isnt all that hot. If you sit around waiting for the best resources to spawn, you are going to wait a while. Sure, the current Beyrllius Copper isnt all that great, but its not bad...and it could be a month before it spawns again. The Solid Petro is pretty good, Id be sure to get some of that, Naboo Fiberplast this spawn is also pretty good 954OQ/519SR. Just try and fill up on whatever you can, and ask all your friends to help (dont worry about bothering them, soon enough you will be giving them good armor for a discounted price).
It took me about 2 months before I was making decent Composite, and about another 2 months before I was shocking PA mates with what I could make (even at 10points).
The Imperial PSG is basically a beefed up PSG. They usually have 3k condition with 40-50ish resistances. Making them would be a great way to make money in the short run, at least enough to get more resources.

It has 3x the condition so it will last 3 time longer and stats seem to be a little bit higher than normal. I haven't made one yet but I have seen others Imperial PSG's.

Yay for me! I recently mastered armorsmith, and A.) I did it because I wanted to (and actually decided to not do my next holo - squad leader- because I wanted to keep armorsmith) and B.) I made it entirely using resources I harvested myself... minus 25k polymer I bought to make some synthetic cloth. The Mabari grind was quick when I had the components together... ah... good times. 
Anywho... now that I am out of novice to master mode and actually looking at what I can make, it's not much. I had no idea how resource intensive everything was. All I can make now is bone armor and not even good bone armor at that. XD
I don't have a lot of money to buy all my resources, and I am gathering what I can but there's not much on Chilastra right now (in terms of good OQ and SR), except some decent solid petro. How did everyone start out? Any advice?
Also, what template do you use now? I've left TKM and 1-0-4-0 Scout for harvesting hides since everything seems to require leather and/or wooly hide. I consider myself a BER10 organic harvestor. XD I had master artisan and dropped it and the business line in favor of novice tailor and the scout hunting line. Just seemed to make more sense, in terms of independance though I'll have to find a tailor for reinforced panels.

Looks like this is going to be a long haul... right now I am using my lots to focus on the best 2-3 resources available to me and gathering in as large quantities as I can. I hate the cost ineffective BER13s but I might need to upgrade to them soon. Paying for them certainly beats paying out the rear for resources. 
Anywho, right now I'm just working on Nabooian fiberplast (there's a nice concentration right by my shop! yay!), the solid petro on Corellia and one BER13 flora farm for Wood. (I had a good chuckle when I found out Kashyyykian armor requires wood. LOL) Those are of decent quality... I've move on as resources shift around.
I've been credit farming in solo rancor groups in anticipation of purchasing the larger BER harvestors and some artisan and armorsmith experimentation skilltapes. How much should I expect to pay for the skilltapes roughly?
And I have no idea how to price the Imperial PSG... any ideas? Might be a while before I can make it (I sure don't want to waste the schematic on a poor quality resources).

Unfortunately, that good naboo fiberplast shifted out, and a less than stellar just took its place.
As for armor exp tapes, well, they just arent that common on the trade forums. If you want to be stingy about it, you could probably get 1.5m per point, but if you get really tired of that, just offer 2m per point and that usually wins. Try and ignore the +1 tapes, unless you are sitting at +7 already and just want the extra point.

Hey, welcome to Chilastra's cutthroat biz. We all pretty nice to each other, but at the moment their is a lot of AS's on lately. I am relatively new at it. My advantage is I had some creds saved up from soloing enraged rancors for several months. Diwo is retiring from AS and has some great resources for sale at 10 cpu. But many people have been asking for Ubese and Padded so look at handling that market. I dealt in wookiee armor and others till I had decent resources to compete with the +12 big dogs. And I have my bussiness partner, Othiic, so combined we got some great stuff now. You want to hook upa good tailor and do work with thesame one as much as possible. But any questions let us know,lot of ushelp each other out. We are not short of customers.

I noticed there are a lot of armor vendors, but I wondered A.) how many would remain once hologrinding slowed to a halt and B.) how consistent they all are.
I also sell some crates of damn good powerups. I got a few loyals already, so I'm not giving it up anytime soon, even as I continue to pursue armorsmith. Plus it gives me another excuse to keep domestic and novice tailor outside of making my own fiberplast and synthetic cloths.

Does anyone even buy that stuff?

By others I mean Ubese, padded, and bone. lot of people like to buy padded for it's large color options, just to wear around town with a little protection to help against spice fiends, swoopers, and the annoying durni that wants to snap at your heels. But I did sell lot of bone armor. If you use good resources and advanced bone segements you can make some nice energy stats. And you can sell them on the bazaar. forgot the stats, but I got mine over 40% And sold manyat Noob Alley in Mos Eisley. Made them right there with the resources they brought me. Made a few creds but helped out several noobs and now they will remember me when they can afford the good stuff. Help a noob today, have a loyal customer tomorrow.

Noted. I've already been playing around with it some... I hit 30% energy with crappy hide. I'm gonna try again with some better hide and maybe sell stuff on the bazaars. It'll be a start.
I made potential customers for my powerup crates by selling them on the bazaar first.

What sort of stats should I be hitting with my layers? I'm currently hitting about 14% kinetic layers and 13% energy layers. Is this low?
Also, why is it the number of sockets seem to be random with the Ubese shirts. People don't want a 3 socket Ubese shirt; they want a 4 socket shirt. With good reason, of course. The thing is, using the same materials, I can hit 1 socket in one try, 4 sockets in the next. What the heck is that all about? Kinda random, isn't it? I've been just making schematics when I hit a 4 socket, then making 10-20 shirts of one color.
What is a good price for the 4 socket shirt? I'm charging 2 or 2.5k (forget which). I figure that's not bad for an invulnerable Ubese shirt.
