Just about to be novice armorsmith. What advice do you guys have? What are good crafts for xp? How to set up harvesters? What to harvest? Best skills to learn first? Or anything at all.

becoming friends with a ranger doesnt hurt either, or throw some scout into your template mix so you can get your hides. just another note on mining, if you dont have it allready get survey III to help you out with finding extraction sites. good luck.

Also coming from someone new to the field, but just going with what I've been told (I'm not even Novice yet...):
Set up harvesters ASAP on all materials of good quality you can find, that you need.
Check SWGCraft.com and just make a list of all the items you'd need for Chitin/Comp/whatever it is you'll hopefully be selling.
Check SWGCraft.com alot.

I've been told that you can sell Chitin Armor with alright Kinetic Resists at 31X4 at least, and possibly Ubese (you don't get the Advanced Ubese Segment til Personal Armor 4 though).

Also, I've been told to go up to 3000 > 3004 > 4004 > 4404 > 4444 > Master. That way you can sell armor that would possibly be sold ASAP (3004/4004) and then move to add layers to the armor... Apparently PSGs aren't too great until you get an Imp PSG schem, which you need to do a quest for...

And to the 'grind'... you can try to sell things (Mabari Armor, etc) at the begining, but it won't go for much, and only very new players would use it. We turn to the "Holosmiths! All your questions answered!) post for grind information...

In order to complete all four Armorsmith skill lines using the easiest possible method (Armor Upgrade Kits until Personal Armor 3, then Ubese Armor Shirts*), you will need to use a total of 358,400 resources. Assuming you are making all of these items in practice mode, you will need to make 1,450 AUK's and 4,941 Ubese Armor Shirts.
...
In making these items you will need 14,500 units of chemical, 28,900 units of metal, 49,410 units of fiberplast, 98,820 units of iron and 148,230 units of steel.

Hope this is helpful, considering I'm just using information I've been told, and not actually used yet.

Another option for grinding to master (works very well if you have a guild helping you...) is Mabari Armourweave Chestplates. This Thread has a table with all the resources you'll need to get from novice to master . However, thiscan berather difficult if you don't have support from a guild as there are sub-components that need to be made.

On the subject of resources, I'll echo Labes and say: SWGCraft is your friend. And while you're looking there, keep in mind that for an AS Overall Quality and Shock Resistance are the key statistics for getting your resists as high as possible. After those two, lookat Malleability (affects encumberances) and finally Unit Toughness (affects the condition of your armour).

Depending on how much cash you have available, I would recommend getting yourself at least 4 Medium Mineral Harvesters, 2 Medium Chems, and one Medium Flora (if you plan on crafting wookie armour at all). If you have the cash, go with 4 Heavy Minerals,2 Heavy chemicals, and 2 heavy florals - as these will pull the largest quantity in the least time, but at a higher maint cost.

You would also do well to sound out a couple of master rangers, to help you gather all the creature resources you'll need, and see about negotiating a contract with them to gather stuff for you.

Hope this helps

I have not yet reached all the xp for novice level yet, but how do I go about setting up harvesters? Do I make them? If so, what skill level in what area will I need? Or, can I buy them? I also read that you should build a power generator before harvesters. Is that right?

You'll need to survey aroundto find a good concentration of whatever it is you're after, then you place them as you would any other structure.

No, an Architect makes them.So you will need to either borrow some from a friend, or buy them from an Architect.

You'll need to buy a powergenerator (be it Wind, Solar, or Fusion) and place it the same way as you would a mineral harvester. If you can afford it, I highly recommend buying a Fusion - as just one or two will pretty much satisfy your power needs as long as you have them. And you'll need that power to operate all of your other harvesters and factories.

Hope that answers your questions

What are the Personal Power and Personal Mineral Harvester deeds then? It says that I can craft them. Will that do me any good?

Well, yes there are those... And at the very beginning they'll get you by, but by the time you hit master they'll be sadly lacking for the amounts you'll want to pull up. Which is why I'd recommend upgrading to Medium Harvs as soon as you can afford the investment, as these will get you the best overall value per resource unit. And of course, heavies are your best friend once you're established and able to afford the 250k+ price tags.

I second the above post!!!

I do STRONGLY suggest:

-Getting a group of hunters to get hide for you. you may be able to keep scout for awhile but you will prolly have to drop if you want your own vendors

-Selling Adv Chitin. live on dantooine getting good animal bone. also good for combat xp

-SWGCraft!!!!!!!

I used the wind survey to get XP through the Artisan ranks. Should I keep doing that one untill I get enough for Novice Armorsmith? Or is there something else that I could do that is better. Keep in mind that I only have Engineering levels I through IV.

A popular technique would be to burn out some harvesters, just personal ones. I think the max a personal can be is BER 4? But with some alright materials you should be able to get BER 2, or at least expand the resource hopper. That way, you can snag any armorsmith resources that pop up, or harvest power for your harvesters when you get them... I think a personal harv. gives... 400xp or something along those lines.
