Architect Archive

I was on the Image Designer forum the other day (yes, really!) I was directed to a stickied thread where they have listed out serving IDs by server. It occurred to me that this might be something we would want to consider.

As with everything in life there are for and against arguments, eg :

Pros:

'Looking for an Architect on XXXXX' posts may be reduced

We may ourselves find the list a useful reference

Cons:

Nobody seems to read the stickies anyway

Keeping the list updated could be a huge job (not the case for IDs, there only seem to be about 200 of themaltogether :smileywink

It may encourage Trade Forum posters to post here instead (but they do that anyway)

and so on. My question is 'is this something we Architectswant to have?'

I think it would be a good idea. Would help some people find architects.

The BE's have had a post that listed vendors by server. I think that would work well for us. I think having vendor locations and a brief description of what the architect carries would be nice.

If there is one big post that someone maintains by editing it to add and drop people then that would give a central location for potential customers to look at. Its a little different than just going to the planet map cause you don't know which vendors are empty or which ones carry what.

However anotherdownside is thatwhen an architect quits or closes shop then we might not find out so the maintainer of the list would periodically have to poll everyone to refresh it or maybe start from scratch and force everyone to relist. Otherwise you'll get dead vendors on the list and maybe not know.

maybe would work real well if it was hosted on a different website that you could select server.. then lists archs by planets.. yada yada.. and then I can sticky the thread up top...

We could start out as a post here and see how many people actually want to be listed. If its not too big then one post here should work well enough. But if the list gets too big then a separate website with individual subpages for each server could be made.

So Bandola when are you going to start this?

I should have guessed why nobody else proposed the idea, lol. OK I will start a thread to collect the details, let's see how big it gets and then take it from there
