Hiya all, I'm sorry if this has been asked before as I am sure it has, but what should i grind to get novice Architect the fastest? Currently I am making mineral survey tools but they only give around 53xp each, is there anything better? If this has been answered somewhere else then plz feel free to delete this thread and point in the right direction but i could not find the info in the grinders thread so thats why I'm asking, thanks muchly.

When you get high enough, start crafting harvesters.

If you happen to be a Master Artisan, make vehicles.

On average, you will get 2xp for every unit of resource that goes into whatever you're making.

Just look for things that take the most resources to assemble.

DO NOT GRIND VEHICLES!

Seriously - there is another thread where we went through all of the math for this. Vehicles are the worst possible thing to grind for xp. As you mention, *most* things that you craft give you 2 XP for every unit of resources you use. The vehicles give you about 0.2 to 0.3 XP per unit of resource.

Just get yourself to Eng 3 with survey tools, then grind personal harvesters / wind generators to Novice Architect.

Pawlin, can we find a place for this in the FAQ?

I'm not saying that vehicles will get you the best return on xp per resource, but they WILL give you a ton of xp at once and you can sell them for decent money.

I went from zero surplus xpto Novice Chef in just a few minutes by making vehicles which I subsequently sold for a profit.

The 5% practice bonus is fine and dandy on something that's gonna give you 50xp for something that'll just take up space in your inventory, but when you can get a big xp boost AND make money at the same time, that sounds like the way to go.

If you happen to already BE at Master Architect and plan on making some vehicles anyway to sell, then you will get to Novice Architect very quickly and have a salable product. Notice however that you have to use reasonably good resources to get a high-quality vehicle.

However, if you are starting out, and have as your primary intention getting to Novice Architect, then getting yourself to Master Artisan for the purpose of using vehicles to get to Novice Architect is crazy. Even if you want to get to Master Artisan eventually, I submit that you are better off getting to Eng3, then up to Novice Architect first, and then alternating architect crafting and artisan crafting to move toward your goals.

I put an entry in the FAQ. I think for most people personal harvesters are the better answer. However if you are already a master artisan than vehicles are an option:

Q-5.1: What should I grind to get Novice Architect?

Personal harvesters give a good amount of experience. If you have enough experiment points (4/4/x /x) then you can experiment them up to BER4 and sell them on the bazaar. Or you can just grind them on practice mode. If you are master Artisan then you can make vehicles. Vehichles give a lot of experience per item but the XP per resource used is low, however they can be sold.

This is incorrect. Please read the "holo-grinders" thread stickied at the top of this forum.
