Started buying lights for my house over the weekend and noticed that they have decay on them - is this correct (and is this new) I'm assuming its to give you guys some repeat business?

Hello,
It is correct, and not new.
The good news for all is that the decay or lifespan timer will not kick in simply from having the item in inventory. In fact, happily you can place your candles and lights and they will burn on and on until picked up, at which point they extinguish.

Define decay. Is there a little timer that counts down once a light is placed? Yes. Does it stop working when it reaches 0? No, not as long as you leave it in place. So lights and candles are basicaly an item that you better make sure you place where you want it the first time
.
That said, I'm glad the lights don't stop funtioning. I'd hate to have to pick up all my lights and put down new ones every month (or week for candles). I'm all for having to buy a new lightbulb or something along that line, but please don't make me pick up and drop and move and all that stuff every month.

Actually, I thought that was their original plan back when they put these things in the game. Apparently it got changed somewhere along the way.

/emote waits for the "how many devs does it take to change a lightbulb" jokes to resurface.
