Does anyone else think the price of harvesters is completely out of control? Maintenance costs for 1 day seems to be over 2000 credits, and here we are selling them for 1k and less?

My guess is the dev team intended harvesters to be cheaper to maintain rather than let them burn to the ground and just rebuilt them...

A personal harvester costs only 720cr per day in maintanance.

Of course if you don't pay that in advance then the harvester is just going to take damage and damage can easilly cost over 2000cr to repair after a day.

Listen carefully: Maintanance is payed in advance!

Even at 720cr per day, for a 1k harvester that can last between 2-3 days, thats 1k versus 1400-2100 credits for the same time period. It's still cheaper to let them burn down and buy new ones...

I'm not exactly trying to say the prices of harvesters is too cheap, but I think there needs to be a greater incentive to pay the maintenance fees rather than just buy new deeds every other day.

Harvesters lose efficiency as they take damage. I don't think it's fast enough personally but it is an incentive. Also I think small harvesters are worth at least 1500 - 2000 credits anyway.

Even if the harvester is at 100% maintenance, it still requires 1500cr to reclaim the deed...I think that pretty much says it all on the worth of these things. They're certainly worth more than 1k.

Now I remember before JTL you could find a harvester for anywhere from 13k to 50k depending on extraction rate. Now JTL comes out and everyone is screaming at the poor shipwright about our prices being so high. I am a small shipwright trying to get the materials I need just to make some things. I have 4 harvesters going at all times on my alt and my main has 3 going. I need alot more seeing as how just a level 2 ship requires a vast ammount of resources.

Now I want to focus on why we are so expensive besides needing a high amount of resources. When you are lucky enough to find an architect shop on Wanderhome they never have any harvesters. Mainly decorations and houses. Never harvesters. I finally find a shop that had a whole bunch of them I get all excited till I see the price. 150k each. That is monsterous. I figure just one person so I keep searching. 200k for the next one. These are 13 base heavies. Like I said 13k to 50k before JTL. Now you want to charge people through the nose. To buy the resources is out of the question since people are charging threw the nose and everyone points at us. I think the blame starts here and works it's way through the system. 150k to 200k is nuts. That forces us to raise our prices to match. Just remember this next time you want to complain that a master ship is gonna cost you well over a cool mil.

I doubt you were buying BER 13 heavy harvesters for 13-50k. A heavy harvester takes about 25k of resources so that price is too low for heavies. 13-50k sounds like the price for a medium harvester which take about 4-12k depending on style.

If you can't find harvesters in stock on vendors then try posting a WTB ad in your servers trade forum. You might find someone selling at a cheaper price who can make them to order. THe cheapest folks are the least likely to have well stocked vendors since they will sell out quickest. The higher priced shops usually retain stock longer but many people are willing to pay a higher price for the convenience of well stocked vendors.

We've had a spike in demand for harvesters since JTL launch. Up until JTL our demand was steadily dwindling and so architects were dropping left and right. Now that there is renewed demand there are few architects left any more to meet that new demand. The balance has quickly shifted from over supply to under supply.

Also a lot of architects split this sinking ship to join the greener pastures of shipwright.

Also bear in mind that JTL has caused higher demand for resources which we use like ore and steel. The higher demand for resources is causing resource costs to go up as you said: "people are charging threw the nose". This increases the cost of our raw materials and may also ultimately raise the price of our goods.

13-50K for a BER 13 harvester is a rare find on just about any server. Most Architects I know usually sell them between 100-150K with the higher BER's going for the higher end of that range. A large portion of the price is also in the amount of the materials used as well as the time to get them. If it took us less time and resources, then yes, we would be charging less for them. But until that changes, our prices will stay about the same as they are now.

My harvester prices vs. a composite chest plate and a vibro knuckler on Chimaera

Heavy Mineral Harvester price: 125000

15400 Low Grade Ore
7480 Metal
1540 Steel
1000 Aluminum
500 Chemical
500 Copper
500 Carbonate Ore
400 Reactive Gas
300 Non-Ferrous Metal
150 Inert Gas

Total: 27770 Units of resources (of which needs HR SR and UT above 900: 2540)

Average cpu on the resources: 4.50

Average cpu excluding the material that doesnt need stats (which normally cost 2,5-3cpu): 49

Composite Armor Chestplate: 80000-120000

100 Intrusive Ore
100 Known Solid Petrochemical Fuel
60 Aluminum
50 Nabooian Fiberplast
50 Beyrllius Copper
45 Metal
40 Wooly Hide
36 Fiberplast
32 Steel
9 Inert Petrochemical

Total: 522 Units of resources

Average (100k) cpu on the resources: 191

Vibro Knuckler: 4000-10000

23 Steel
12 Ferrous Metal
12 Copper
10 Solid Petrochemical Fuel
8 Metal

Total: 55 resources

Average (7000) cpu on the resources: 127

A heavy harv one has for life if one bothers to pay maintenance, How long does a chestplate ora vibro knuckler last.

Architects are the least expensive crafters of all. Okay we dont need uber stuff for all components, but still theres a difference between 191 and 127 cpu for the resources and 4.5.

yeah I agree I think you may have been looking at BER 10 mediums.. cuz the norm for low prices on BER 13 has been pretty steady at 100-135k ish for some time now...
