Thread: An idea for archi that would not break the devs

I had a thought the other night. With regards to houses and storage space, why couldn't something be added to allow us, the architect, to decide a buildings lot size upon creation? Have building maintence tied to amount of lots, not size of house.

The reason being for this.. Say you want a small house, to act as a crafting place or a shop etc. but instead of 2 lots for 150 items, you could make it a small house taking up 3 or 4 lots for greater item storage. Or suppose you dont need the item storage, but juat want a bigger house model. Make a large that experiments down to one lot and 75 storage. All thats really changing is which model house goes with which lots. the storage space within would not go up or down, cause the lot situation would not change. the only difference between a 6 lot large house and a 6 lot small house would be the house model itself.

The house is just a wire fram model with textures. Why couldnt we have some control over it? Devs would not need to change the database or increase the number of storeable items etc, just how many lots certain houses take up.

And if development wants to throw the word consistancy around I will counter with "then explain why small and medium houses take up the same number of lots? or a pa hall, which has more lots then a large house, has the same amount of storage?

This might give us a little more of a market for houses etc.

Thoughts?

it would be good to be able to experiment on houses some....... really change some things, have some options, kinda like WS or AS, they can control many things, like WS, speed/damage, cond. , and a few other factors....... it woyuld be neat to have to do something more than just throw it together.................

I personally have always thought it would be a good idea for crafted housing upgrade modules to be made by Archis, as mentioned before - similar to how an AS can make a basic piece of armor (our current houses) - or 'Advanced' armor which can take layers and such to tailor make the resistances

In this case, you could tack on a (highly touted in the forums lately) front porch module, or a small yard module, etc, etc - adding a high degree of customization to each house type. And possibly the different sized houses could allowdiffering amounts of upgrade modules. Say a small gets one, medium two, and large three.

Probably wouldn't be too difficult to code in, and it would definitely add a new boom to the housing market (which has been a little stale lately).
