Thread: Help with a few questions
Hello, I started having a dedicated customer recently who is using me to upgrade all his harvesters. I had a few questions about it though if someone could please help:
I originally started out selling Medium Mineral Miners for 15k each until I realised I was undercharging. I estimated it based on my time and energy. I had 2 or 3 Mediums running carb-ore and a 4 personals running Aluminum, Steel, Copper and Fiberplast (plus 2 for a small house and 2 for power). Eventually a few of the sources left at decent amounts so I couldn't get copper, aluminum or fiberplast decently. I switched to getting carb ore only and started buying the rest. This seemed to dent my profits so that I really wasn't making anything. Eventually I switched Medium Mineral to 20k each and Medium Chemical to 40k (because of walls vs structure mods). The same thing happened with the chemical harvester.
Recently I made a Large Chemical for 125k and a factory for 50k. On the chemical I failed twice on the final walls and then had to use alot of money to get myself a structure factory made. The fellow paid me in advance (nice guy) so that I could supplies quicker and get it to him faster. I ended up buying the Steel, Aluminum and Reactive Gas of the bazaar. All in all, I think I ended up with approx. 60-70k after buying the rest of stuff to make the Large Chemical.
My questionis: What is a good mix of harvesters (medium) that will help me pump out some of the big harvesters better? Also, should I make my customers wait longer instead of buying the resources off the bazaar at 6 credits per unit (sometimes if I'm lucky I can get 5 per) ? Lastly, should I raise prices on my items if the economy will support it? I'm quite happy making custom orders just for this one person. He currently wants two heavy mineral, and one fusion once I hit Installations IV. I don't need to be able to make 10 medium harvesters per day or anything, just be able to get my turnaroudn time down to less than a week per item and maximize my profits.
Thanks for any help.
