Following from our lovely, “I had an idea brought to me” thread, to narrow down the discussion. The problem is there are too many items being made that are flooding the market. Crafters get umpteen resources, factory produce thousands of items, and the market is saturated.

There are multiple approaches being suggested to diminish the crafters output.

Limit resources. This can be accomplished by limiting storage, limiting harvesting, and limiting resource life (decay). Limits have been imposed already: vendor nerf; limits on lots (10); elimination of unlimited crafting station storage. Increasing house and backpack storage helped a little, but these helped all players, not just crafters.

Limit output. Possible by: remove the ability to use factory schematics, and increase resource requirements. This has already been seen with shipwright and armorsmith schematics. Less factory use and more resources required.

Players seem to be able to find ways to get around limits on resources. Whether it’s by creation of a network of miners, lot trades, or purchasing more accounts for storage. But the devs don’t want players to get around the limits and make more stuff.

It seems the best success the devs have seen with decreasing market saturation has been with limiting output. So I imagine we’ll soon see a weaponsmith revamp, and we can all hope for an architect revamp that gives us more stuff, but we would most likely also get an output nerf as well.

I wouldn’t mind making Tatooine Large House 4 by hand, but please keep walls factory made.
