Ok guys, what is the best way to generate power? Wind generators, solar generators, mining for nuclear material? I have just got installations 2 and i am wondering if maybe solar is the way to go?
Thanks

Also can you tell me how many lots medium harvesters take up and how many lots the solar generators take?

All harvesters take 1 lot.
Fusions pull the most power.
Best way to get power... buy it ![]()

ok, so how much does a solar generator pull? and how many lots does it take?

I disagree with the buying bit, I can pull power from my Ion generator very very cheap.
I flood a good spot ( look for high PE ) and then dont have to pull power again for several shifts.

ALL harvesters and generators take 1 lot - period.
You can use wind, solar, or fusion to generate power.
The base rates that these generate are 5, 8, 13.
Wind and solar tend to come in concentrations of 40-65%, although occassionally they go higher. Radioactives (what fusion needs) are a mineral and tend to come in concentrations of 60-75, and I've seen it go to 88%.
Radioactives also can have PE > 500, which gives more "energy" per unit produced. For example, if you have 1000 units of PE 750 fusion power in your pack, when you go to feed your harvesters it will say that you have 1500 units of energy to put in the harvester. (the factor is PE / 500 with a floor of 1).
So fusion is absolutely the cheapest way to generate lots of energy in terms of operating costs. However, fusion generators are heavy harvesters and an expensive purchase - I've seen prices of 80K - 200K, depending on the server and the rate that the fusion generates.
Right at the moment you can find wind generators that have been experimented up to rate = 9. I think that solars are 8 or 9 right now. Right at the moment fusions can be produced with rate = 14. The rate at which fusions work *may* change upward (last week we could produce rate = 16 fusions).
So, right now your best bets are either a high-rate wind generator for a low entry price or a high-rate fusion for long term operating costs. All of this advice could change with the developers whims.

When it is selling at 0.5-0.75 cpu on ur server it is better to buy it and use ur spare slot to harvest something worthwhile. For loner Architects every slot is VERY important.. you got a fleet of 20-30 slots, yea harvest your own, would be silly not to.
