Thread: Factory crates showing the factory OWNER as creator.

This really applies to all crafters, but hits architects more as our factory uses more lots than the others, and we have the highest resource requirements, so we are more likely to use a factory on someone else's lots.

Since the patch, any items produced in a factory are now showing the factory OWNER as the creator, instead of being blank. A friend had agreed to let me use 2 of his lots for my structure factory, and now any item I make in the factory has his name as the creator. I take a bit of pride in my work, and I could live with items not showing the name, but to show someone else's name when I did the work just isnt right. This should be changed to show the person running the factory as the creator, not the factory owner.

If it's a problem to you, just put the factory on your lots.

WOW! GEE! I never thought of THAT!! </sarcasm>

The point is that I shouldnt need to. Not only for the reasons I've stated, but any novice who wants to borrow a friends factory to make a run should be able to do so and have his name on the item.

The crate says the creator is the factory owner, but when you take the items out of the crate, they say the creator as the maker of the schematic? I think that's how it works for me... It should list the owner name of both the crate and items as the schematic creator.

small hijacking cause we've got so many 'craters' here...

I have been trying to figure out simply how to make a factory crate... I am a master artisan and thought that skill gave the crate schematic, but I can't seem to find one. I am also arch 4/4/2/1, merchant 1/4/4/4 and a novice tailor.

A crate is automatically made whenever you produce products in a factory; there are only a few exceptions such as ore mining units. The only variable is how many products in a crate and that is product dependant. For example there are 10 powerups in a full crate, 10 wall modules in a full crate, 25 molecular clamps in a full crate, 100 structure modules in a full crate, etc. You can also have partial crates of items. A crate is only treated as a single item in your inventory, not the quantity of the crate. Hope that helps.

Back to the original question...

I suggest placing your brand name in the editable name of the item being crafted [appears when you prepare to create the schematic], and the heck with the 'created by' field of the object. I always do this. Buyers will see this on the vendor first and in their inventories, as well, and only see this anomoly when they Examine the item itself.

i've got 4 structures and 1 equipment factory on my lots, and they all spit out stuff with my name on it, no matter which of my apprentices or my self makes the item

works fine for me.

My point exactly. If you yourself had no part in creating the item, other than having the factory on your lots, why should you get credit for it? I understand that in your case you provide your apprentices with other benefits, but yours is a special case. Perhaps credit should go to the creator of the schematic, Id be fine with that too.

I agree this is wrong, i have all my lots used up, and when they have brought up the city's i had to get myself a house to be a citizen of my guild town. Before this my vendors were indide hall and buddy's houses. Now to put up a house, my guild leader and mayor offered me is 2 lots to compensate.I didn't know his name was on the crates though. With the ore i need to have, i don't have lots to spare at all.

But i don't really mind this that much... i mean i don't care who's name is on it as long as i can use it.

And for the one that said put it on your lot, you sir are a genuine genius...i mean sheessh why didn't we even came close to having a glimpse of that idea.Maybe you should give us other pointers on current problems, you seem so logical.

I agree - I'd like the schematic creator's name branded as the "creator" of the item.

My wife's character owns my structure factory so I can go place harvesters. If I owned my factory either I'd have to make do with 2 less lots for harvesters, or take her character out into the countryside looking for ore.
