ok well, i have searched the arch forums and wanted an answer from the experts,
MSS's ? (micro sensor suites)
CU's ? (control units)
DSC's ? (droid storage comparments)
i have seen stations in the 40's and wondered, how the freakin hell do i get there?
i dunno bout the stats for the dsc's but as far as i know, i can craft the cu's and the mms's pretty dam good!
i seem to get the max of 30's, with the exception that i actually made a a +35 once!!! and that was it i dont even come close to the 40's whatsoever
please all info would be greatly aprreciated (thanks in advance people)

There's actually a rather easy reply to this question, and the question itself has come up and has been answered on other forums such as swgcraft's numerous times.
How do you do it? Take months to collect all the very best material you can get, either by mining, by buying it, by having ex-architects give it to you (or sell it), by pure luck, by sneakilly raiding your friend's house, or whatever, but get the best of the best of the best (but put those army soldiers back where they came from)
If something has a lower than 990 OQ, keep it, yet don't expect things to be good. Gradually build your way up, replace old crappy (OQ 970) resources with newer better ones (OQ 980, 990, 997, 998, 999, 1000!) and run a few small factory runs to see what comes out of that.
If it satisfies you, make a larger run. Experiment *everything* to the max (99%) and label it as such. If you have a second set of control units with slightly better materials, serialize the numbers (99%-2) so you know which ones are the last and thus the best.
Keep going. Get a droid engineer to make you a schematic for droid storage modules (with say 950OQ/950CD copper). Anything under 95% basically isn't going to get you anywhere, but if 89% is the highest you can currently get, try that. Once again: Experimented to the max, label the schematic with what the stats were, put fractions in if you need to.
Get control units of 99%, get GPs of 99% get energy distributors of 99%, get CD650 (or as close to it as possible) steel, with 990+ OQ (preferably 1000), keep going until you have everything as high as possible. Get a copper of as close to 1000 CD as you can get, use that to fill the 400 res slot with, use some crappy ore for the 50 res slot, this saves on the probably extremely expensive high CD copper.
If you have all this, and take a day off to make all the factory runs required, you can make stations over 43, or even 44. If this sounds like way too much work? Then quit trying.
Mad.

And lose all those resources you gathered wich gave you the components to make 43.72 stations bu forgetting to put maintenance in a factory on a friends lots wich were storing them in the input hopper, happened to me 3 days ago...

Thats probably it right there. The droid storage compartments need to be with 900+ materials and experimented as high as possible by a master droid engineer. If DSCs are made with low quality material and aren't experimented then getting in the 30's like you are sounds about right.

It doesn't quite take 990+ on everything to get above 40. I was made 41 rating stations using a polymer of about 900 OQ. Of course the higher you can get the better the rating. But don't think you have to throw something away if its less than 990.

Funnilly enough, I changed the 'If it's lower than 990OQ keep it' from my original 'If it's lower than 990OQ, toss it' comment *grin* So I'm not advocating you pitch it, but merely that you keep looking, since it's simply not good enough.
And you can have one, maybe two of the base resources in the low 900's, but not more than that. I'm still trying to figure out if it's even possible anymore to get over 44, considering the fact that steel has a limit on CD of 650.
I'm sure you can get over 44 with fateful tuesday components, but that's something I really don't care about, since I want to do it 'for real' with stuff I got myself and is at any time reproducable.
I actually have a rather good business selling my +42.80 stations for 42.8K with any name my customers choose. And my markup on that is quite significant
It's nice, though, since the people I make those for, and give that little extra:
Me: What do you want it to be called?
Cu: Huh? No one's ever asked me that!? What do you mean called?
Me: Well, you can name it anything you like, since I make them especially for you.
Cu: Oh cool! Can I name it Bigdude's Experimental Weapons Station?
Me: Sure. No problem there. One weapons station coming up.
Cu: That's so cool!
And for some reason people keep coming back for things like furniture
Mad.
