Thread: Personal Crafting Stations
OK, so I tried to make a personal crafting station yesterday with the "Input Hopper" addition. I made everything, built it, and dropped it in my house. There's no option for the hopper, it's as if it doesn't exist.
Can anyone shed any light on what I am doing wrong?
OOps. I just asked pretty much the same question in another thread.
I've made a couple Personal Crafting stations and I can't tell the difference.
Okay...I'm a newb.
But what advantage do these have over public, aside from the % bonuses.
I have one in my house, and so far the only thing I've noticed is that I have ALOT less options as to what I'm allowed to craft.
(For the record it's a weapon crafting station, and I'm using a weapon crafting tool)
I was told I needed one of these to make a bowcaster, but haven't been given that option.
Personal crafting stations (actually called Private crafting stations) are necessary for any schematic that is 26 or above complexity. The public ones only go up to 25. So, the high end crafting can ONLY be done at private crafting stations. Architects make the ones you put into your house, and droid engineers can make droids that have private stations in them (naturally, that's what I use
)
When using a private crafting station you need to use the specific tool (Weapon/General/Droid tool in your case) and you will get the high level schematics. Yes, it has initially less schematics than the generic crafting tool, but as you gain in Weaponsmithing there will be a lot of schematics in the Weapon tab and some in General.
food/chemical - to make advanced foods/drinks or chemical components
weapon/droid/genera - advanced weapon / droid / general
structure and furniture - ....
clothing and armor - ....
I don't think you can experiment on an advanced biological effect controller with a generic tool next to a structure station .... does that answer to your question ?

This is a bug with the Weapon, Droid, General crafting tools. They count as a "specialized tool" for any schematic, not just weapons/droids/general items, and when paired with a private General crafting station you can make any schematic in the game.

There was a time, lo these many months ago, where you had to use a structural tool for anything more complicated than a wind generator; an armor/clothing tool for anything more complicated than a bone helmet, and a food/chem tool for stimB's. But sometime around the October publish (they were monthly back then, dont'cha'know) the WDG tools became imbued with the all-crafting power you see today.
It's not even close to being a big enough issue to count as an exploit, but I wouldn't expect it to stay around forever.
