I am an architect/weaponsmith. I have a difficult time procurring bad resources. The result of this is, I end up using good resources to craft things where resource quality doesn't matter. Am I the only one? One idea that popped into my mind (credit Wookieluv) was to trade good resources 2:1 for bad resources. Any ideas or thought on this?

If you want resources where it doesn't matter, buy from somebody with a static harvester field ... they take what they can get. If you place harvesters, of course you get the best you can find, it doesn't cost more...

I use grind crap for ore and the same for most steel and alu and copper,
It got easier since the recyclers
I buy in my high quality stuff, and mine grind stuff, seems to work quite well, course now when i get grind it get 'recycled' so it dosn't matter what stats it was - and if I get desperate for stuff, I have used the low 900 stuff as grind to make the numbers up, it saved me from turnig out shonky products later

I did the trade thing a while back when uber ore spawned on Tempest and my static farms happened to be on a 60% spot. I pulled up 700k of it and auctioned it off. I got a 3:1 ratio, and tha1 2 mil units lasted me 2 whole weeks
But it is a good idea.

No I've used good resources to craft architect things. I don't think your proposal is good though. I'm eerie of the idea of using a game system to get more resources than you put in. Mined resources equal time used. And such a system only helps architects, artisans, shipwrights and tailors.

Isander did you think he meant some sort of game mechanic that would convert good stuff to grind stuff? Something like a recycler?
I read the ideas as just trading good resources with other players for their grind stuff. Like just posting WTT ad in the trade forums or something offering "100k of uber fiberplast for 200k of your ore".

Too many times I have been forced to use HQ Resources to make walls. *sniff* I've got some houses out there that are uber quality. LOL. Shame it matters not. *grin*

I have attempted to make these kind of trades, but the fact is that there isn't that much low quality ore out there in the marketplace. Why would I pull grind ore at 55% when I can get steel at 85%. The underlying problem is the inversion of accessibility of the low grade resource with the refined. Miners are not rewarded for mining it.
