Thread: Does the active architect listing need a refresh or clean start?

The Active Architect listing was first started about 6 months ago by Bandola.

I have a few people sign up each week. But I have nobody ask to be removed. So I'm afraid that as people leave they never get taken off the list. As time goes on the list will get more and more people on it who are no longer playing.

So, my question is how should I go about actively keeping the list current?

Shall I start fresh every 3 months?

Do you all think the list is useful as it is? Do any of you get people coming to them saying they found your name on the list? If I deleted it, would anyone notice?

Do we NEED to have waypoints to shops in the list? Or would having WP's just end up getting out of date worse?

What do you all think?

I think it's a great idea to have but as you said if people leave and don't say the list will be well out of date.

Plus with it being here how many potential customers will actually see it as could we ask nicely for it to be added to top of trade forums as a sticky so people can instantly see which architects are around?

I know it is a sticky here but is there anyway we could have it possibly stickied in the trade forums as well at the top, or would that end up with every other crafter wanting the same in the trade forums.

It couldn't hurt to leave it up there, don't think there is any harm in it.

I have yet to have anyone tell me they saw me listed on it.

I don't know a way to link our thread to other forums other than making a post in those forums and linking to our thread from there. I doubt it would be stickied by SOE since its specific just to Architects and as you say if they did it for us theyd have to do it for other crafters too.

I find the list very valuable myself for a number of different reasons. I have and still get people coming to me that say they have seen me here. I would definitely notice that it was gone, but I'm one of those rather observant types.

As I stated when the list first started, I don't think that waypoints are needed but suggested to just put the planets your based on, which is what ended up in the final version. It seemed then and still does, like a good compromise since vendors and shops do move around a lot.

Did we suggest before for each of us to take on a server and check up on architects on the list to see if they were still active and report on it? I believe Bandola was doing it for Bria, since we were on the same server. I can start doing it if that's the way we want to do it.

Otherwise, put as much work into maintaining the list that you wish to. Don't burn yourself out. Do what's most easiest for you, since you volunteered to do it. If your tired of it, someone else will pick it up if you don't wish to do it anymore. I know that a lot of us here will help you maintain it if you ask for, or need, help.

It probably wouldn't hurt to update it. I do know that there are a few people who left the forums and may possibly have left the game but didn't bother to tell us they were leaving, so it may not be a bad idea to update just for that reason.

I think it should be restarted. Definatly keep it hough, I actually ended up asking Bandola to remove my name from the list a few months ago as I couldnt keep up with all my regular customers as well as the many people that kept coming to me saying they had seen my name here.

Restart with version 3.0

I know I stayed listed even though I said I was leaving the game, and now I'm back, but my shop locations have changed, as have my mix of merchandise.

I like the idea of doing it every three months or so.

I think what might be more useful than versionsis if you break it up by quarters.
