Thread: THINGS THAT WILL KEEP ARCHITECTS BUSINESS ALIVE (Please read these are really good ideas)
i would like to hear everyones comments on them and it would be nice to see zarcath look over it if possible.
schematics(the abilityto make faction buildingssowe can have an affect on the GCW)and buildings like Wattos shop for showowners, we should be able to sell npcs buildings too... most PA's have settled down and havemost buildingsthat they need (other than cantinas, med centers, cloning facilities, shuttleports, starports)
the abilityto customize homes such as, changing the color, changing the shape (space) and changing the shape should affect the resource requirements, parts of home break (leaks, holes/cracks, etc.)architects should be neededto fix the problemswhichwould be randomized and cost a certain amount of resources to fix (so architects can estimatethe repaircost)
the ability to make miscellaneous stuff that people can put around the house such assigns (advertising for your business or perhaps a BEWARE OF SNOWBALL),gardens (garden upkeep for bio-engineer) and you could grow food, fences (i know large houses have thisbutthere should be fences and you can change the color and have to replace sections of it every so often),patios (areas so you and your friends can hang out on some chairs just socializing and relaxing)and maybe have the option to purchase extra land around you

I'd like to see sectional couches or multi-seater couches so that more than one person can sit on a couch at a time.
I'd also really like to see factional buildings and structures, but maybe you have to save up FPs to buy the schematics for them.
I'd like to see a wider variety of furniture and a wider variety of customization options in furniture. As is, many of the styles of furniture don't look very good (too art nouveaux) and yeah, different colors would be cool so you could more easily color coordinate your homes.
Hate to burst your buble, but all the stuff you posted have been posted and re-posted a hundred times, both here and on the beta boards. The devs know we want more stuff to make.
The one thing wrong in your post is the header "keep architect business alive". It doesnt matter how many items we can make, if they dont decay, they will stay in the system. After a while, most players have bought all the stuff they want to buy, and we once again have a hard time selling things. Adding new schematics doesnt solve this problem, it only delays it a month or two. What we need, is for houses and furniture to vanish from the game, just like guns and armor do.
Something else...
We should be able to make bridges, what if your PA wants to have a river running through thier city... however bridges should only be able to be built in a player city. another thing... are cities going to be on ground, because if they are we should be able to make marble, concrete, tiled paths for player cities.
WONDERFUL IDEAS! I like them all and agree.. here comes the BUT
The database is CODE RED. it can barely handle the items and colors etc that currently exist (hence the mellon, house item, less drops nerfs) They can barley do fixes let alone ADD anything.. hehe.
Your first idea is great, factional buildings would be really cool. All along I have been crying for battlefield structures. Hopefully with player cities we will be able to build specific types of shops.
As they release new things, maybe we will get new strucutures. With player mounts I think releasing a stable would be cool. As you use your mount it gets fatigue. Fatigue is healed slowly in camps or quickly in stables. With vehicles require garages for repairing decay.
I think affecting housing color would be cool and not too difficult. Affecting housing shape and design is probably not feasible from a database and lag standpoint.
One other thing I would like to see that makes sense but probably doesn't work with the way they have things designed is some type of power distribution device. Imagine a structure that can broadcast power to your devices for 100m. No need to shuttle energy from solar gens to extractors.
