Well, it depends on what materials you have, and whether or not you just want to grind, or make something you can use later.
If you have a ton of metal, make crafting stations. At 400 metal 50 mineral they give over 1k experience in practice mode. You'll get to 77k, 88k, 99k, etc in no time. However, it does eat metal. You can only make about 2.5 stations per 1k metal. If you're low on money, I recommend selling the stations, not making them in practice mode. Usually there are none or few up for sale - try selling them for 3k so you can pay for standard 1k metal and be able to make 2.5 more. However, only market sparingly. If you flood the market, no one is going to buy, or you're going to get undercut.
If you want to use what you make... make structural modules, then turn 10 of them into a wall module. Takes a lot of ore, a little over 2k ore per wall module - but in the long run, it's less materials than the stations. It's just boring as hell.
Each wall, including the structural mods, gives about 6k experience when the package is complete. If you plan on making medium houses, harvesters, factories, or civic structures... do not make these in practice mode! You'll really wish you hadn't. It's a nice feeling getting to Master and having a bag full of pre made walls at your disposal.
Good luck.
Make struct mods-walls then put a post on your servers board. On tempest i buy them from beginners. Saves me the trouble of making them, and gives them some cash to run their harvesters
Plus you dont have to walk through towns yelling "HOMES FOR SALE CHEAP"
firennice is dead right.
Crafting station is faster, but walls will get you there with credits in your pocket.
