Thread: Say What? Archs are ripping you off???
OMG i log on today after i have just gotten done my 8am-4pm work shift and wnat to relax and enjoy swg.
But no first off this nub (Bobthebuilder Vaclyn:tat AH) says "hey you are trying to rip me off"
my reply huh?
yeah all my friends bought there large houses for 100k and you charge 125-150k your trying to rip me off
then i said thats great the your friends got Large houses for 100k i sell them for 125k-150k(125 for tat 150 for gen) which is not bad pricing at all
well after a long and heated battle i said screw it and just let the kid go his merry way
then i see him in town begging for someone to sell him a large house lmao guess he will never get it
but heres the thing and we all post about this time and time agian
why do we as architects constantly get bashed belittled and told we are ripping people off
WHY????? **edit** us slaving away to get to master so we can provide you the player with a place to have all your neat things in
WHY must all you nubs out there hate the architects for trying to make a living
WHY will you pay over 100k for armor but scream at us when we say 125k for a house **edit** is wrong with you people
i got so mad i almost got rid of arch but then the light blub hit me
**edit** ARE ALL YOU NUBS GONNA DO WHEN THE PLAYER CITY GOES LIVE
your gonna come back to us and ask can i get this and this and we say 500k for that your gonna filp your little nubbie minds lmao
remeber when it goes live the archs get it all so be nice to us for a change thats alll we ask and hey maybe we might cut you a deal
and also to the lowballers much hate and disrepsect towards you guys making me look like the bad guy due to you underselling everything
well i think my rant is done i know you all have and will (for you novices out there) the saying "your trying to rip me off"
Ok Hows this a massive Architect strike where we make nothing for anyone
just think no harvesters for you no houses no factories what would you do
you would suck up to us faster than a fat kid to a candy bar
so just remeber we do this for you guys and maybe for the ton of money we make but hey thats a bonus to seeing the smiling face of a customer that has just bought the harvester house or factory he wanted thats what keeps me going
that and only that reason is why i stay a Master Architect in these troubling times
ok now i am really done lol
peace and may the force be with us all

Here's why...
People get cheap and stingy when they have to pay 150k fora large housethat takes 40k resources. (4cr/unit)
People won't blink at paying for 10k for aDX2 pistolsthat take 200 units (50cr/unit).
Calm down young Padawan.
No need to get upset.
If you're a master, you don't need to craft anyway. You can make yourself heavy harvesters out the wazoo and harvest whatever happens to sell well. No risk of failure, no boring clicking, easy money.
I sell heavies for 150k. Medium minerals I sell for up to 25k depending on extraction rate (standard price used to be 15k on our server). And that's only because I haven't sat down and figured out an appropriate pricing for the variable rates now. I guarantee you I'll raise the price long before I lower it though.
Fact is, all this 3cr/u for architect or mining at .5cr/u or weaponsmiths getting 30cr/u is so much garbage. No one seems to give a **edit** about the time it takes to do this stuff.
You know what your time is worth, you know how much goes into your structures and you know how much risk you have for a crit fail every time you craft. So, you decide your price and stick with it.
Once you reach Master Architect, you're free. Craft if you want, sell if you want, but you really don't have to do either. Hell, sell at whatever price makes you happy, low or high. I often refer customers to lowballer architects just 'cause I'm too busy or too lazy at the time to craft it myself.
So relax, Master. The fastest way to shut up a guy dissin' you is to politely refer them to another architect. Then go about your merry business.
lol this is funny.. a master *weaponsmith* telling an architect his prices are too high

on our server we currently have an uber phrik alum, ostrine ore and irolunn gas all spawning at the same time (lol so image how swamped we all are, can charge whatever, altho my prices have only risen about 10k each)... so yes we are getting insane prices for our mediums but no where near the price weaponsmiths get for their stuff..
You can do what I do and just refuse to sell houses anymore. Why sell a house when I can sell a heavy harvester and charge 5 credits a resource for it or heck you can sometimes even charge more then that for it.

I sell mediums for 80k per and smalls for 4k per.. and i cant keep them in stock.. i dont get many house orders but my vendor does insane business with them.. they never last more than 24 hours on her..
4k for a smal house?!?! you sir are a %$%$&
to the original poster:
i agree, its rediculous how ppl bitch about architect prices and more lame that architects themself ruined prices like its now.
personally i dont bother anymore, i just set my prices and ppl buy or dont buy. imo the biggest problem is that the little kits playing aoround in SWG got no clue how many resouces we have to use and that we mostly sell for just prices where we could sell pure resouces with ease higher.
i went to my own pricing which is for sure not under 4 cr/unit and try to stock my vendor with many things. makes for me no snese to take a 2nd job in the game for griefing. i want my fair sharein form of the price for working for others, otherwise u cant call this business.
so when i get request i state always how many resources that item takes and try at least to explain that is IS a fair price, if they get it cheaper pls go and get it and prolly wait a week to get it for that price.
but still i am hoping that lowballers quit some day and prices go a bit more up like it should be.
and yes, its silly that armor or weapons are sometimes more expensive then largest buildings we can make under high risk of losses.
Ever since I became architect I created a pricing structure based on market value of resources which is on our server typically 3cpu.
Based on that I just round up a bit to cover crit costs and viola. If nobody likes my prices then leave. My prices have hardly changed since I became novice architect and created my price sheet. It's fixed and the ppl I talk to will deal with it.
I've been told I have great prices, and I've been told "Nevermind but I can get it for cheaper" and even had the usuall "your ripping me off" conversation.
What kills me is the flux of Small Houses and Medium Mineral I've seen crop up on the bazaar with an instant bid price of 3k??????????
What the hell? Well I saw this and I bought them all up. Now call me greedy but this was my proactive choice to do my share to maintain some sort of order to the architect economy. And yes, I will sell these for close (not my price since I didn't make them) to my actual price.
Those that argue prices with me on the smaller things I normally tell, "go find a novice architect who is xp grinding and ask them to make one for you", or "Well that's my price, if you find better then great, if not I'll be online for (xnumber) hours".
Quite a few novice architects have come to me and ask me why I charge what I charge and how do I come up with that price and after explaining it to them, 99% of the ones that did ask me (like 12 of them) understand my reasoning. Some have even offered to make me walls for a low cost so they can grind xp. Now I might be fueling a future competitor but that's business for you.
Getting mad at a customer is counter productive.
When one tells me they can get it cheaper elsewhere, I tell them they should buy it at that cheaper price becsue it is a bargin and I smile at them. In fact if they can get it a LOT cheaper I ask for the waypointso I can increase my stock as well.
No point in getting mad, take it in stride and move on.
I sell smalls for 20k, med 80k (95k gen), large 200k (250k gen), guild hall 1.5million (2million gen)
I refuse to sell harvesters unless they're my old ones I don't use
I sell factories for 80k
Those are decent prices. Those are affordable. I stick to them and people can take it or leave it.
I have sold everything at those prices except for guild halls.
I had a conversation with someone the otherday
Them: How much for a guild hall?
Me: 1.5m, 2m generic
Them: Wow! Why so much?
Me: It's a long story, but I do charge more than others. You can find them for 250-300k
Them: Yeah, I got quoted at 280k. Why do you charge so much?
Me: Because they're a pain to make and I'm not going to charge such a low amount when weaponsmiths can sell at 50cr/unit without a problem. Also, guild halls are used by multiple people, so when they split the cost it's not that much at all.
Them: I see. I really do agree with you, but you'll understand if I get it somewhere else.
Me: Of course ![]()
Them: Okay, thanks anyway. Goodluck
So, players will understand if I charge more, but since other archtects charge the 250k for a guild hall, they'll go there to get it. I don't understand the logic in that... They say "If I sell for less, I'll get more business. If I make 15k per structure, I'm still making money."
There's a big difference between making 10k from a DX2 and making 10k from a Medium House... A big difference.
So, what can we do? Absolutely nothing. Just charge whatever price you want and people will buy stuff now and then. You'll get by.
I have noticed that is is hard to find resources on the bazaar for less than 3creds/unit. To sell a Small Corellian House that uses 3388 units of resourcesbaught at Bazaar for 3creds/unitis 10,164 credits. If you harvest every unit of resources yourself at about 1cred/unit, you make a 6776 credit profit, granted you might as well sell it on the Bazaar for the same price and avoid the labor and the chance for critical failure. However, I see this on sale all the time in vendors ofseveralArchitects. This is Status Quo. While I disagree with it in business sense, I do understand that Novice Architects are tempted to bid low to fill a very demanding market. More peoplebuy Small Houses as opposed to Large Houses. As a Master Architect, I normally don't deal with Smalls, I let the novices learn their own lessons. Those that learn them, raise their prices and play fair. Those that don't, well they either are very busy people and fail to meet demand, or they get burnt out.
Let me tell you a story about a Peer of the Realm. I am a Master Architect running from Tyrena to Coronet after finishing a Decorating Job for a former Weaponsmith, so I have Interior Decorator floating over my head. I hear a Architect named "Warp" shouting at the Coronet Starport that he is selling Factories, Houses, and Harvesters for cheap. Iwas out of resources and wanted to make some showrooms, so Iask him to sell me two Medium Generic Houses. He tells me that he charges 25k for each (@23,600units for 25k, that is a smidgen over 1cred/unit). I balk, then wonder if this is possible. I tell him that I want it done and send him a confirmation order via Email. He emails me back and tells me that I have to wait 2 days. This is understandable, Architects like us are very busy and at that price I canstand to wait 2 days. Four days later he emails me, telling he is done and that he will be in Tyrena on Sunday for me to pick up the goods. I don't see him appear on my friends list on Sunday, though I must admit I didn't play ALL day. After missing him, I email him three days later to ask him to contact me or drop it in my vendor. I have now lost count of the days I have been waiting for him to contact me, and it isn't offered to my vendor. This has been a three week episode.
The moral of the story: Since I have had this experience I have told a dozen people about Warp. Now it is on the Forums. This is not anger, this is not vengance. I am still waiting for my Medium Generic Houses. Yes, I can make them myself, but its the principle of the matter. If he cares, he'll contact me. Otherwise, he'll be exposed as the kind of Architect that the Architect Forums love to loathe.
