The Jedi Holocrons are killing the crafters.
What more can i say. There are now so many new people fighting to be in a crafting profession...dumping huge amounts of materials into the market.
It is hard to compete with those. We also see many of our hard working crafters that made some of the best materials run screaming after the next holocron step. Dumping all their old deeds, guns, armor, and supplies onto the market.
How are we supposed to compete? they dont care about the money, only finishing and moving on.
It hurts us all.

Over-reacting a bit. The holocron crafters, if you read any of their "How do I get to Master as Quickly as Possible" threads are focused on one thing.... getting to master as quickly as possible. They're buying materials and grinding them away to attain the master box. They're likely not actually selling anything because let's face it, they're not taking the time to understand what it is they're crafting and how it works. You think these people are taking the time to seek out high quality materials and experimenting on extraction rates, armor, weapons.... whatever? Doubtful. If they're trying to sell anything it is very probably of low quality and none of us should fear that. They'll get their master box, sell it all back and move on in the rotation. The real crafters will do just fine.

If you want to stop this, YOU (meaning all of us) need to take a proactive stance, and do something about it.

If FS chaser "A" has decided they must master Arch, either just buy wall's off of them (or give them the materials to make them, and get them for letting them have the XP) or sell them a TON of junk metal cheap, so they can make crafting stations in practice mode.

If they happen to get DE as thier "calling" about all you can do is sell them cheap steel and fiberplast, since really, your not going to have much of a use for anything they grind, might as well have them run it in practice mode.

If it's BE, they will be going the billion Micro Sup Nut's, so again, just supply them with cheap materials if you can, since that's a 105XP on practice mode kind of thing.

If they happen to need one of the Medic type professions, this is one area they actually can make something they can "sorta" sell. BEC's would be the thing of choice, and these can be pretty bad, and still make perfectly good Pet Vit stims out of them for instance, since those things are only 1 charge anyhow. The power on a standard BEC, is always so low, it would be unlikely to affect the outcome (BEC's are made for charges on medicine, not power) and you could probably find some People working thier way up BE, that would buy even lousy stat BEC's off you, to make the Pet Vit's with, since BE get's no XP to make the subs anyhow. This would also give a shot at some free UXP, for the aspiring Doc type.

For AS, I believe it's one of those, that is purely a "your stuff sucks" unless your a master, just like WS is. So that's probably another two professions that you just do what you can to provide them materials cheaply, and let them grind in practice mode.

I don't have enough experience to even guess on Tailor and Chef, Chef could at least give some of it away as Pet food (a mountain of Wastril Bread no doubt) but since pet's are no longer food blackholes, there is not going to be much of a shot at UXP, so practice mode is probably a better bet. Tailor does make some stuff that AS uses, so finding another "Holocron Victim" that got AS as thier chosen path, would get a little UXP, and might be worth it to not just practice grind.

The bottom line on my post...

People chasing the FS, probably won't stay in the profession, and simply want fast ways to level in them. "Doing them a favor" by selling them cheap materials, or even loaning them a set of harvestors, can pay off for you in the long run, first by the fact that almost all of these people are power gamers, and most have cash to spend, and if you help them now, they may be your customer for life. Second is the fact that by helping them now, you reduce the chance that they will be forced to "dump" products on the market, further lowering the price in a profession you actually intend to keep.

Choice is yours,

Great! Anyone on Starsider wanna help me get to master Architect as fast as possible?

While I do think this class is mind numbing having to wait for my harvesters to get the metals together and whatnot, I am starting to enjoy the class more now.

I have had to move out of my large Tatooine house and into a small one just to free up lots but I wasn't really upset about it.

My vendor is up and running and admittedly only selling low quality architect items at the moment but it is also stocked with things I picked up in my life as a Creature Handler. I even have a Krayt Skull on the vendor.

I am in the process of grinding stations at the moment but if any Architect on Starsider has any ore they want turning into structure modules just give Shiba a shout in game. Im more than happy to do it.

I don't think it will hurt the market much, if at all. People doing holocron-inspired grinding are there for one thing, the title. After they get it they will move on to the next profession and keep moving.

My holo told me Master Weaponsmith (I took a screen shot after I stopped crying). I used it on a fresh new account. How many weapons do I intend to create ? 0. none. not a darn one. About 2 minutes after I train master I will use the 2nd holocron and forget about weaponcrafting and never look at a rifle barrel again.

Now architects I only see this being good for. I have been an Installation Designer for a while (wanted to make my own heavies) and I HATE HATE HATE^10 making walls. I would gladly buy them if I knew someone selling them.

I see the power grinders as sucking more raw resources, but not ruining the economy.

And sucking raw materials is really a good thing, There are too many materials in the market now.

If you reduce the materials then that reduces supply, you reduce supply vs demand and that has a healthy effect on our business.

actually it seems to have hurt business since EVERY seems to be on Dantooine....or have they just quit...

but in the long run i think it is a TERRIBLE idea to force people to be crafters..

but on the flip side i acquiered mor apprentice points last week than in two months of begging people to let me train them
