What would be a decent cost for labor for decorating a house?

Like rooms etc.

I was payed 200k to redecorate the basement of a PA hall. It was basically given to the placer of the hall as his "home" and he wasnt any good at placing objects so he sent out a call on the galaxy forum that I answered. I spent about 50k of it buying new furniture and the rest was profit. If he wanted me to do the whole PA hall I would have done it for the same price but odds are he would have payed 300k. So there's an idea for you. It was alot of fun, too bad people dont tend to furnish their homes too much otherwise I might be able to make a job out of it, and make my friendly neighborhood architect a little richer in the process.

I'm still doing it.... but I primarily do major centerpieces and things like my website shows... prices run from 25k -200k just for the centerpieces....

i've done normal interior design work as well and redid a PA hall wtih centerpieces and such for a total of around 600k.

lots of people with too much money don't know what to do with it... so, why not take a little bit while giving them something to show off?

Those waterfalls are really kewl. What do you use for the water?

The looked like couches, only covered up so you could only see the blue parts. Those are really interesting and give me a few good ideas thanks. I guess I'll have to try and find the market on Bloodfin. Designing my PA hall was sadly the most fun I've had in the game for a long time but it turned out pretty **edit** nice I feel. I do small center pieces that draw attention but not in that way geeze. I guess I should get off of corellia if I want to do this though since we dont have any good houses.

Just curious though, how did you get into the business. Like I said I just saw a guys message on the boards and contacted him but to actually get people to search me out would be great, any tips on that would be greatly appreciated.

I gave up the interior design business as it became too demanding.. I was turning customers away.. there IS a market for this people..

Im an architect so I could make whatever furniture I needed.. i would buy droids and BE pets for other decorations..

I did some pretty nice setups, full custom jobs.. my prices work out to be about 300k per medium 450k per large and around 700k per PA.

When I quit the business I actually had people offer me double this if I would just do one more job, but its REALLY a lot of work. The first few were fun, but then it got to be a bit too much :/

well, i got started when a guy asked about an aquarium he'd seen on the boards... i told him i'd take a run at building it and it came out great and was fun to do, so, I just kept on going... borrowed the fireplace idea from someone here and came up with the waterfall idea on my own. the 4 tier fall was the first one i ever built and i did that one in my house.

once i did 2 or 3 of em (1 was Kits Kwality Kritters, its a PA hall used as a shop by a very well known Master BE) word of mouth spread... I also encourage everyone buying from me to come to my place to use the vendor or to make the trades... when they see it they ask me about it, plus the bone armor segment is a sign advertising for me to email me for a centerpiece like that one.

its lots of fun to do if you have patience... each largedesign takes me typically 2-3 hours to complete although I'm getting faster as I've done more of them

oh, i kinda said it, but if you really want to do this regularly... find a shop that is well known and well travelled and do a heavily discounted display and get the owner to let ya put up a small sign on it as well.

If its well designed, it will help draw traffic to that persons shop on top of the normal business, plus as people see it and associate your name with it you'll get more and more tells.

I did Kits entire PA hall for about 100k which is pretty cheap considering I now make a lot more than that for less work on many of the designs.

I'll be honest though, the only reason I charge a decent amount is to keep these types of things relatively rare. A big part of the reason people want them is because they're not something you see every day.

What's the lower lining on those fountains? Looks like synth cloth crates only it's gray and has no cloth icon. Been wracking my brain and I can't figure it out.

Also... I have a problem getting anyone to pay even more than the furniture in exchange for designing a house's interior. I didn't even quote a price, just "Well it takes a lot of time so I would have to charge more than the furniture that you buy" and get straight NO for an answer.

not sure, I do have people that balk when i tell them 150k for things, I only do 2-3 of these a week... big part of the reason I still enjoy it... probly don't really want to do more than that anyway, hehe. I generally don't get into it too much, you can probly get interest by advertising your services on your galaxy's specific boards.

as far as that lower piece? hehe, that was a neat little find... that was the new artwork for the armor repair tool... it fits nicely if you put the lower level on the floor.... you can also use the orange novice chair turned around if you lift the bottom level about a stairs height or so off the main floor
