If this thread exists somewhere else, please point me to it, but from the expertise here, what determines the quality of an assembly? It seems to me there are twoseperate aspectsof assembly. The degree of successfulness and the base quality of the item. So what things affect which pieces?

The quality of the materialsseems prettyobviously to be the biggest one. Are bad materialsmore likely to get lower quality successes or more critical failures? Or do bad materials just produce items with low base quality? If you kept everything the same and you worked on a -12 station or on a +41 station, what would change? Just the likelihood of getting a great success or the actual base quality of the item as well? How about for the crafting tool?Your structure assembly points? Andhow doesthe complexity level of the item fits into all this?

If anyone has the magic formula for how all this works together, I would love to see it. Also, I have the same questions for experimentation. You've finished crafting, you have whatever success level you had, so what now affects how successful your experimenting is? Do the materials affect the likelihood of getting a great success or just the max quality an item can achieve?

Thanks for any input on this,

ah, wouldn't we all like to know this? I have not done tests, these are just my thoughts as I've crafted day to day.

The quality of the resources is the biggest factor. Especially the stats that are listed in the schematic are of importance. The better ql materials, the higher the number on inital combine. Then for experimentation, those stats listed that effect experimentation, if they are high ql, then it reduces your risk on experimenting. Lower risk, higher success rate...and so on so forth. For an example, I was doing fluidic pumps. The experimentation stat you need is 100% unit toughness. So, I get some steel that has 995 UT and some chem that is 500+ UT. My initial combine came out to 19%. When I put all 5 experiment points into one single experimentation, my risk was 26%. If I were to use 200 UT materials, I'd expect my riskto be a lot higher.

Logically this makes sense. The QL of materials in the experimentation reduces your risk, therefore you should have more sucesses than failures with high QL resources in the stats that are needed for experimentation. Now, with all that, I find that it is completely random whether you get a good success, moderate, amazing..etc etc. Crafting stations and tools don't seem to make a difference in success...and if they do I would not know since no matter what the success rate is, I find the range all over the place with any crafting stations/tools I use. I have heard that the ratings on tools and stations only helpwith crit fails.

Again, I have not documented this, it is just from my experiences.
