Hi everyone. I recently mastered Architect and this is my first post in the Architect forum, so bear with me if this has been brought up before.
Has there been any discussion about new statues being introduced for the profession? I'm not thinking about more strange or weird ones. Here's my idea (again if it's already been discussed, thanks for reading this far):
I've talked with several people in my guild and while we currently have ways of honoring guild members, we thought this might be a good idea. Have a new statue made that resembles the playable species in the game, call it a character statue to differentiate between the other statue base out there. Craft as normal and the customization comes on the final crafting screen (just like the present statue). There could be several pull-down menus to choose from, including gender, species and profession. Make the size of the statue about twice the size of a normal player character, nothing too large, but just big enough. Also, I don't know if this is doable, butthere could be a section added for a description too, highlighting events of the personal being memorialized.
Say your player city is switching mayors (by choice, not by inactivity...) and would like to honor the outgoing mayor who is a male Mon Calamari. Create a character statue, select male, politician and Mon Calamari from the pull down menu...instant memorial.
I would suggest that only novice professions be included at the start, no need to get carried away from the beginning. So there would be seven professions to pick from. Naturally, there are only two genders, so that helps some. Finally, there are only six species at the present time as well. In total, there would be 84 total variations if introduced before the expansion (wishful thinking). Here's some ideas for profession poses:
Marksman: Either standing or kneeling with a rifle or carbine in hand, in some type of armor.
Scout: The classic /areatrack pose with one hand shielding their eyes.
Artisan: The classic /sample kneeling pose.
Entertainer: Either having a dancer in a dance pose and a musician playing an instrument (sub-menu perhaps).
Politician: I can't remember the emote name, but there is one with the characters hand on their hips.
Brawler: Either the unarmed fists-out pose, or wielding an brawler weapon (sub-menu perhaps).
Medic: Either the one hand out in the healing animation pose, or for the cynic, siting down mimicing the buff doctors in Coronet!
Again, further down the line, if implimented, more poses could be included as well as more professions. What do you think? And thanks for reading!

That is a cool idea. I don't think anyone has proposed this kind of thing before.
If the amount of new artwork was kept down to a minimum then I could see them actually implementing such a thing. But I wouldn't expect to be able to do a lot of customization or that kind of thing cause it would mean they'd have to put out a lot of different art skins.

Welcome to the profession - and with ideas like that I hope you stay with us for a while
.
One of the best ideas I have heard so far, and one that is so easily doable.

I really like the idea! This could be used for other reasons too.
Mainly, I've needed to craft a statue or two as a memorial to several guilds whose members passed away in RL, and they wanted a simple piece to remember them by in their city. I think that would add a great personal touch to it.

This is one awesome idea. Kudos!
Picking up Zen's idea for improved customization through the architect skilltree - there should also be an improved choice of materials the statues would be made of. Starting with simple stone, the path through the skilltree could lead via marble, bronze, silver and other metals or minerals.
Different approach:let the type of minerals / metals used during the crafting process define the final looks of the statue (eg. iron would resemble a silver statue, gemstone a crystal one, etc.).
Man, I'm excited...

It's a great idea, but 8 species, 2 genders each, 7 professions, this are... 112 statues. Too much art team work and sure they will complain database issues.
But we will get a new statue in P9, won't we?

Remember though that the art team is one of the biggest critical resources, so they would have get creative to avoid a lot of new artwork.
Notice that you can already "create statues" of this type, though. As a Merchant you can create a new vendor, and with the right skills you can pick the race and sex. So obviously they have the mechanisms to do this. The trick would be to 1) drop a "stone" color/texture onto it and perhaps 2) standarize the clothing.
A bit of a tangent but perhaps worth thinking about in this context. If you've ever placed a vendor, and gone through about 40 tries to get the right "look" for your Zabrak Female (or Dosh Male or whatever), you know what a PITA it can be. Because they use the "random" function like you can completely randomize your character at creation.
Image Designers can change *everything* for a character except race and sex. If they came up with a mechanism for ID to operate on vendors, how cool would that be?
The reason I thought of this in this context is if the Architect could make the "basic" statue, including race, sex, and label, and then an ID could do the "finish" work in terms of height, hairstyle, etc then you could have a great looking statue.
