Thread: /setpermission bug?

When using the radial menu on a structure, you can't un-admin yourself whether you are the owner of a structure or not.

I have an alias defined to auto-admin my alts and associates who require access to a structure.

It includes my name as well since you can't un-admin yourself so anytime I use it, it gives admin access to everyone in the list and tells me I can't remove my own admin access.

A couple of days ago, I accidentally ran this macro on a structure I didn't own and it revoked my access.

It seems that it won't revoke your access on a structure you own, but it will on any other structure.

Is this by design or is it a bug?

As I said, the radial menu option will prevent you from doing it.

Shouldn't the /slash command at least pop up an 'are you sure' confirmation?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

It happened when I was waiting on a structure that I don't own to decay so I could use the land for something else.

The player it belongs to has switched servers and is indifferent about it.

I was watching the decay countdown and accidentally removed my access.

The structure should have imploded on Tuesday anyway so when it was still there on Wednesday, I submitted a CS Ticket explaining my story and that I would either like to be given my access back or have the structure destroyed.

Their reply was essentially "we are giving a one-time reimbursement and restoring the structure to 100%"

Gah!

I wanted the thing gone!!

I still don't have admin access to it either.

Too bad there isn't a a level above admin like 'co-owner' so that you could designate people that would be able to re-deed and rename structures.

Sure, this would let people steal the structure from you, but hopefully you wouldn't put anyone on the list that you didn't trust.

I don't think what you're describing is a bug. /setpermission is basically a toggle. if you use /setpermission using a name that is already on the list, you will remove the name. Non-owners can add or remove admins at will, and if you are not the owner and use your own name in a /setpermission script AND you are already on the admin list, you can remove youreself. If I type "/setpermission admin fred" I will add Fred to the structure admin. If I type it again, I will remove him. If my nameIS Fred and I am not the owner, typing "/setpermission admin fred" will remove me from the admin. Since now I am no longer an admin, I cannot get back on the list.

I use a script on every harvester and structure I place to add my business partners and all my alts. I NEVER use my own name in these scripts for fear I will remove myself from admin of a house or harvester someone else placed for me. Since many people in the city loan me their lots for storage and harvesters, I want to be careful not to accidently remove myself.

To be safe, NEVER use your own name in an admin script.

The thing that leads me to think that this is a bug is that doing this from the radial menu will NOT let you un-admin yourself.

It just seems odd that using /setpermission WILL let you un-admin yourself if you're not the owner of the structure. Even this wouldn't be so bad if there were at least a confirmation step before it did it.

I think my biggest mistake was not making sure that my alt still had access.

Regardless, that building still sits there mocking me.

The CSR did assure me, however, that the building will implode when it hits 0%. If it doesn't, they'll take care of it.
