Okay i just noticed that today's patch says that they fixed a bug with players being able to make full factory runs using the new loot shematics. Does this mean no more factory runs with these? Or am i just being paranoid?

Hmm I'd say that's a good question. NOW if only the server was up we could all go check *sigh*

I reread the notes for the update on the launchpad and I dont see a mention of that at all. Only thing at all along that path was that they changed it from any player being able to make the schematics. I assume that the profession requirements were not stopping people without them from making the items?

I'd agree except you were always required to have the appropriate skill before learning the schematic (I had to grind up to 0100 tailor to make the tapestry). If they did indeed nerf the schematics to single-object-creation, that would be yet another huge slap in the face to architects.

Well, I just tested this, and the option to create a schematic has indeed been removed. After creating the prototype, the schematic was revoked. So, only 1 item per schematic now...

Is this retroactive? I have some loot factoryschems still, does this change affect those?

The patch notes are for the Test Center not live. It's a preview of what's coming to live though.

Update Notes: Test Center -- December 7, 2004 - Version 107591.107607

Loot

  • Fixed some furniture loot-schematics so that they can not be manufactored via a factory.

They should have just made the couch, or the tech console, or whatever drop. They must get paid by the hour, to make purposeless schematics like that. What a joke.

I won't create these objects for anyone from now on. I'll have no part in the continued abuse of crafter's abilities so that a combat meatclod can profit HORRENDOUSLY on the trade forums.

And to think, I was so happy to see new stuff in the game without it being prohibitively expensive to purchase. What a crock, the Devs must have manure for brains to make this decision. I mean, seriously - it defies all logic in so many ways.

Why even make a schematic drop if it's single-use? Just give the stupid combat meathead an item to make their riches off of. Don't slap my skills on a schematic so that they hassle ME to get THEMSELVES rich.

I'm really, really bitter about this change. I was looking forward to making schems for my factory, which I didn't get around to yesterday. Planning on being a part of the wonderful folks not attempting to profit madly off the new stuff. Instead, I now have 3 tech consoles, and my first thought was - "wow, now those are really rare, so they're worth a lot more now." It made me sick to my stomach.

And here I thought - maybe we'll see new decorations around places, instead of the same junk everyone's had for over a year.
