Thread: Failures unacceptable

I AM a master architect.

Woop tee freaking do, cause apparently it doesn't even help that much.

I've made 3 fusion plants in my carear, 2 as a novice architect with furniture 4 and installations 4, and guess what, BOTH came out ok.

now I'm a master, with 55 structual crafting XP, working on a lvl 35 complexity rateing. You'd think i'd do alright, but WOOPS I failed. THATS messed up, its TOO much LUCK in crafting for critical failures.

Plus critical failures for architects, on final assembly's are messed up. We loose so many resources it's completly INSANE. We don't get paid enough for the stuff we make, and then if we fail, we spend a week getting out of the hole. I fortunantly have a PA to cover me in these times of need... but i am very very very frusterated by this.

Recently, a partner of myn on the Corbantis server failed a PA hall, completly shutting down a few of his resources plants. (a soloer) and who knows how long this recovery will take.

Structual modules, I don't care if I fail, even a wall module every once in a while, but a PA hall, and 15 wall modules GONE. Is NOT acceptable. we need MORE crafting XP.

you give the WEAPONSMITHS 100, sure they have more complexity, but even so, they almost have twice as much as us, and it DOESN'T MATTER. If they fail one thing!!! If we fail ONE thing, we are in financial loss for days at a time.

The architect is nerfed. I am so gald I have an excellent PA so I don't even have to TRY to sell my stuff on the global market, I just get payed to make homes for our own community.

Please either give us a TON more structual crafting, or just STOP critical failures for our advanced thing, anything that's 3 crafts up. Anything that needs a wall module or two should not fail, or should fail something like 2% of the time, not 20% AT MASTER. at lvl 4 furniture you guys have about a 40% chance on fusion plants and such. This is a horrible situation and needs to be addressed immediatly. There is way to much luck involved.

Devs don't care all they have to do is change the structure mod from -35 to +35 as it should have been at the start, but why crush a bug so earlyy? Let everyone waste their resources on critical failures at master architect and maybe down the road we'll fix it(note sarcasm). Who knows where our coresspondent is on this issue, its the biggest one in the wholeprofession and we haven't heard from anyone.

Im noticing a lot of posts on critical fails and I think its probably the biggest issue, yet I've heard nothing addressing it. You're right, it is completely insane the amount we lost in a critical fail. Plus, we're already selling our stuff cheaper than we should! Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths must be laughing their tails off at us. They make things that if they crit fail, whoop dee doo, they lose maybe 400 resources and they're back on track already. They charge whacky insane prices, like 6,7 maybe 8 credits per resource for items that take them like no time to make. We architect make things that cost us tens of thousands of resources if we crit fail (Even a medium house is 20600 resources) which sets us back a day or so, even with the help of a PA. On top of that, we are forces to sell our stuff at prices of 2 or 3 credits per resource that took us how long to make? (57 combines not counting the final combine for a medium house) People laugh at me and tell me Im ripping them off if I go anywhere near 4 credits per resource... Sigh, Im thinking of just giving up and becoming a chef. At least then people would have to keep on buying my product.

yeah this is deffinantly our biggest issue, even plagueing us master architects.

We need more crafting +++ to skills. I heard that in the last patch weaponsmiths gained MORE crafting XP, even though if they critical failure big deal, cause they typical take 2-3 experiments anyways, and just throw away those till they get a nice schematic for a gun, and run 20 of them off. Probably selling all 20 for about 10k a piece makeing 200k credits for maybe 20k resources.

Unfair, most deffinantly.

Here's an idea......raise your prices.

In all honesty though, I used to fail 1 in 10 back before I had any Furniture. But now that I'm a master and try to use only resources with 700+ toughness I don't fail nearly as much. Today I hand-crafted 200+ parts because of the factory nerf.....I had 3 failures, 1 on Gen Turbine and 2 on structural Mods.

I failed on a factory early on when they were hard to get resources for, but guess what, I spent exactly 0 days/hours even minutes digging myself out....because my prices reflect the chances of failures. I have never gotten out of my 1 to 2 day backorder either with my prices. I'm also honest with my customers and tell themthey can probably find cheaper, but I have a good number who continue to come back and order bigger houses/harvs etc.....

I see a lot of complaintson these boards about crit failures, but the architects I talk to on my server who use good toughness resources don't seem to have much problem.

Yeah, everyone is bound to fail on something big.....adjust your prices to match. I sold a medium min harv for today while some guy standing next to me was charging 4k less and shouting it out.

Take a minute to explain why you charge more than the guy next to you....I've made a ton of sales by just answering questions and giving explanations why I charge more. Now if I crit fail on something big, I see no problem with that as its not that high a chance(though there def. still is a chance), but my sales can handle it.

Chelis you do realize that for many architects it just takes4 days to gather enuf resources to attempt a PA hall? How are they supposed to "reflect" that in their prices? God... I dont know what I would do if I failed on a PA hall.. guess ill find out if i fail on my first one tomorrow.

Lets see....

If it took 1 month to collect all the resources for a PA hall you could reflect it in your prices. Just because it takes longer to collect the resources in noway stops you from charging accordingly. It's really not that tough. Sure it may take you 4 days to be able to make another one, but those 4 days would be in your price. You dont know what you would do if you failed on yuor PA Hall? I would wait another 4 days and make another while still getting a considerable profit. If you shudder at the thought of failing on a PA Hall(other than the initial frustration) then it's probably because your not charging enough.

On something so big, get a downpayment of half. Easy enough. Make sure your customer knows about crit failures(I've never had a customer upset with me for taking an extra day because of a crit failure). And then keep them informed of your progress(probably the best thing to do on a long project).

Tell me how you "can't" reflect that in your prices.

But you could buy all the resources for said hall in 10 minutes. Collecting them may take upwards of an hour though.

Chelis: That is simply not how it works on my server. The market price is set at 3-4 cr per resource for just about everything. Even if I use my most loyal customers (which i have atleast a dozen) i dont think i can get more than 5 cr. It just doesnt reflect.

Do we know the percentage of critical failures? I doubt we do since you would have to make 1000 units to get a decent percentage. I don't have a problem with critical failures, and I seem to get them more than I should. I just count it as part of doing business.

BTW it does stink getting a crit on a large house or PA (haven't had one on this yet )

I agree the crit failures on something as big as a PA hall shouldn't be allowed....why don't they just do minimal failures? where you only lose like 1/4 of the resources that would be much easier on everyone...but no its all or nothing.

I have watched these boards since day one. Commenting and feeling the pain of Architects who critical fail. Until last night I haden't expierienced a major crit fail. I failed on a Food Factory and could not even imagine failing on a Hall. This sets me back quite a bit. I will not give in however, I will make Master Architect someday. I'm not even half way yet but I did add furnature 1 to my list for the extra assembly perk. Hopefully it actually is. I did however notice that on the build of the factory I did not fail on ANY part of it till the final assembly. I saw it coming. I made a new crafting tool for the final assembly and was at a crafting station at my home away from lag. Yet I still failed. I could "feel" I was gonna fail on it before I clicked it. So maybe each Architect fails a major piece at a certain xp range. I'm telling you it felt like I knew I was gonna fail and I did leading me to believe it is structured in the game itself. Maybe not so random. It is however horrible. I assume the dev in charge of the architect tree was molested by an architect when he was young cuz there is definalty no love for Architects.

I realize that critically failing can be a pain, butaren't the prices you charge for each item about the same in terms of credits per resource unit? If not they should be because the people who are so concerned with critically failing a PA Hall shouldn't be making them. If it sets you back four days you are taking way to big a risk. I can produce 1-2 PA Halls per day so I can afford to build them. If you can only do 1-2 smalls houses than don't build PA Halls. While I don't like critical failures as much as the next guy, I don't need to hear about it all the time. Architects need to focus on more contructive posts other than, critical failures suck, and we can't sell for high prices like the weaponsmiths.
