Thread: So do we have to trash our existing crates of experimented subcomponents?

Umm I'm a wondering a bit about the cases of components we already have? Do those become invalid components? Do we get a new version of the heavy harvester? Do the components migrate to the new components with same experiementation? Do they migrate to the new components but unexperiemented generic stats? Do the harvesters that have be lol "script modified" get unmodified? Will all existing harvesters and deed get migrated to some baseline or be left the same? Do our clients have to wonder from day to day, re-deed to re-deed what their harvesters will look like? Do you really plan to give us the full 100 experimentation points all other classes get ( thus reducing the disparity between the fellow with the +25 experimentation tape +50% to only +25%) lol seems we weren't so good about not changing the harvesters so thought I'd ask. Will the next major patch happen as a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly patch? Should we stop producing harvesters till the Morine figures out how they work? Have you thought about the money sink shrinkage that will occur if people start paying maintence on highly experiemented mediums vs the larges? Do we have plans to deal with the new influx of minerals other than accounts going inactive or items just magically going poof not to be reimbursed by a CSR?

Did that seem like a lot of questions poorly parsed with little design? Hope so perhaps it will mesh with the design strategy and some answers will fall out :/

They'll at least be usable for the 'medium' harvesters....

I was thinking myself if I should crank out some more harvs before they make the changes so I can use what components I have left.. but I don't wanna have them get nerfed or anything.. hopefully they don't mess with harvesters made within the last few days.

My thoughts exactly. I posted the following on the "Greenmarine" thread. I didn't see this one right away.

One problem I see with changing the schematics. You mention a new "heavy" version of the different processing units (mining, fluidic, harvesting, etc). I have a stack of about twenty of the mining units I ran thru a factory (since they have to be identical for heavies) that will become worthless.

I know a number of Architects keep these factory required parts around for when they get an order. It's easier to have the subcomponents pre-made for this. What are we suppose to do with these? If you change the schematic to require "heavy" units you make these worthless.

Granted they could still be used in mediums but not many people need these anymore. So all the resources that went into these, the cost for running them thru the factory, and the loss of XP we could have gotten from handcrafting them (since mediums do not require identical parts for the most part), are lost to us.

Personally as long as they keep them usable in mediums it's not too big of an issue.

You can't use Ore Mining Units in mediums though, they use Light Ore Mining Units.

Hey guys I wouldn't worry about mineral harvesters. Medium and heavy mineral harvesters already use two different drilling components (Light Ore Mining Unit vs the regular Ore Mining Unit.) However all of the other harvesters share components between mediums and heavies. So it looks like we may end up with a Heavy Fluidic Drilling Pump and/or a Heavy Harvesting Mechanism.

While they're at it I'd personally like to see a few other things get fixed, such as the fact that Generator Turbines seem to both manufacture and create energy at the same time, since they're used in harvesters and generators. I also think Manufacturing Mechanisms shouldn't need their own turbines. Make factories just take two "similar" turbines instead.
