Does the quality the ore (UT) that is used in making walls for heavy harvesters affect the BER after assembly, or is it only the quality of the materials used in creating the subcomponents? For example I have some carbonate ore that has a UT of 953. Am I wasting this ore in making walls for the heavies, when I could be using some junk siliclastic ore?

For the *mining* component (e.g., light ore mining unit, fludic drilling pump, etc) of a harvester, the quality matters. For the final assembly of any harvester, quality matters. In these cases "quality" is determined by UT, HR, and SR. To compare two materials, calculate (2*UT)+HR+SR and compare them - the higher the score the better.
For ALL other components (walls, generator turbines, storage modules, etc) quality *DOES NOT* matter - use the absolute crappiest stuff you have and save the high-quality stuff for final assembly and key components.

Thanks for the reply, wait while I kick myself for making 18 walls with the good ore. Oh well, live and learn, I still have six harvesters pulling more of it out of the ground.
