Thread: Heavy Harvesters....Info PLEASE
Heavies BLOW through power.. its very obnoxious so if you do not have a steady power source and the cash to front for the heavies i suggest going with the BER10 med's ![]()
I've gone through like 600k of power in 2 weeks with 26+ heavies
personal - 720 credits per day
medium - 1440 credits per day
heavy - 2160 credits per day
The power use for harvesters is:
personal - 600 units of energy per day
medium - 1200 units of energy per day
personal - 1800 units of energy per day
(BTW - always turn your harvesters OFF/ON before checking their status. Always turn them OFF/ON/OFF before redeeding them. There are some bugs associated with the display of power that can be side-stepped by this procedure.)
Mediums can be a good stepping stone to getting your harvester fleet up and running. Rather than spend all of your profits on something else, as soon as you can go ahead and upgrade to heavies.
The basic difference is that a BER13 will pump up 2,592 more units (11,232 vs 8,640) of resources *per day* on a 60% spot. That translates into an extra 5,400 credits per day if you are selling resources at 2.5 cpu, after the increased maintenance and power is factored in.
Harvesters are *money making machines*, no matter if you sell raw resources directly or sell finished goods (clothes, weapons, meds). A given resource only lasts so long. You only have a fixed number of lots. If you are serious about pumping up resources, get a heavy - they pay for themselves within a week or so.
Can anyone give me the cons of using a big harvester over the personel ones, and any info on them, price, how much faster they are, do they take normal power? how many lots for each one?? im starting armorsmith so i figure i may need some...........HELP!
also i am on the Naritas galaxy

Here are the facts:
All harvestors take up 1 lot
Heavies and mediums can be experimented right now so there is a big range in extraction rates, but the maintenance on them does not change. Im not going to comment on personals, they are a waste of time if you ask me.
Mediums run from 4kg/hr to 10kg/hr. Don't touch anything under 7kg/hr.
Heavies run from 7kg/hr to 13kg/hr. Don't touch anything under 10kg/hr.
There are two schools of thought. Some people have shown the economics that you will make the most profit running heavies no matter what. Mediums have a better operating efficiency.
For mineral extractors mediums still only require 3 structural mods, so they run from 10k to 50k depending on extraction rate and who you buy them from. Heavies are 100k plus. So for mineral extractors I would almost definitely go with mediums.
For chem and Gas mediums require 3 wall modules and will run 40-75k. Tougher call here.
If you need the maximum number of resources and cash is not a problem go with heavies. If you are trying to grow you business slowly with minimal expenses mediums are better.
