Under THs discussion thread and post your opinion on TH's vision of colored furniture.

He thinks we should make kits to colorize furniture.

My response was "HELL no" I want to amek teh color furniture ala Armorsmiths and Tailor, not make some freaking kit.

Please post your comments.

Dvnce I hope you get a chance to post a rebuttal in the correspondent forum.

Trust me, you wouldn't want that. At least not if you were on my server

Coloring them via a kit will make it easier on every level and every stage. Why should you have to have 100 versions of 1 couch stocked just so people have a likely-hood of finding the right one, or expect to get a ton of requests via /tell or mail to get the color that people want. Also you have to realize that people won't know what shade it is exactly so you'll have to make a few "test" couches in order to make sure it matches equating to lost resources in essence. Anyone doing large decoration jobs (either for themselves or just people for hire like myself) will have an incredible headache in order to get things to look just right thanks to having to contact an architect in order to get the right color match/scheme for things.

Meanwhile if you just make a kit I can buy them en bulke and neither of us has any hassle outside of me being colorblind/forgetful of which square it was I chose last time

That is just it, I'll make a furnish of each color, it doesnt have to be a ubber 50 million colors pallette. Then you can order 20 or whichever color you want and I'll make you a factory run no problem.

Either that or I sell a 100 credit kit.

Lets see i sell a Master Couch at 9000 credits in lets say 10 different colors, or 10 tools that can do 100 different colors. If the customer wants new color furniture, he comes and buys another 9000 couch or uses one of the 10 tools i sold him in a crate. Assuming he wants to change his colors 10 times, that is 90k credits worth of couches, with the tools it is 9000+1000worth of tools=10,000.

Unless it a a ubber kit that would command 1000 credits per. For case in point about "Customization Kits" see the Droid Customization tool. =sarcasm=It is a great seller for the DEs=/sarcasm=.

But that is just it now why can't I buy the couches off your vendor 10 at a time? Because you guys will likely not have them fully stocked with every color that I would need. Meaning that I'm now sitting on my ass waiting for you to eventually make the couch only to find out that whoops it was the wrong shade by a square oh well just wait for the factory to pound out another 13 of them and hope this time it will go right. I know of a few fully stocked vendorsin my galaxy and, unless I need things specifically named, I go to them fairly often because it is much faster and easier then waiting on an architect to open himself up to anorder.

I wouldn't mind it if these "dye kits" ended up being high priced (god knows you guys could use it since your only cash cow seems to be harvestors) low usage items. I'll gladly pay 25k to be able to change the color of something25 times/ 25 items but I want to be able to pick and choose the coloring. Either that or be prepared to come with me to the job site and make a few dozen practice pieces so I can get the right color for the rightthing to look...right.

I fully support selling color kits. I can't imagine life as a tailor or armorsmith, with everyone wanting their own shade or red/blue/yellow.

No, I want to sell furniture in todays "standard" colors, and then I want to sell a kit to change the color. I've posted this exact thing before, and I continue to want it.

I think I actually lean towards having a tool like DE's have for droid customization. But I'd want it so that only architects can apply the tool. That way we wouldn't have our contribution devalued to a novice architect pumping out a zillion tools in a factory.

I for one don't enjoy filling a vendor with the number of furniture items we've got right now. How many items are there now? 50? 100? Just imagine making 10 of each so you've got one of every color.

Personally I feel that the kits would be more of a convenience to everybody especially arcs.. (plus the major reason people wanted color furniture was for variety not income).. Did you notice that he also said that most likely these kits would only work for furniture made post new kit patch?

that would be good as well.. and revitalize the demand on furniture..

However as a Corr.. Its not just my personal feelings that matter.. IF the majority here would prefer a systom like tailors have where color is chosen while crafting I WILL push for that..

My personal preference is that architects select the color of the furnishing upon creation, like a tailor. I always make my furniture on-site and on-demand for my clients, so to me there is no downside. I don't have to stock a vendor with 50 variations of 30 furnishings, so the issues others have raised don't affect my business.

However, I recognize this opinion is likely in the minority and can see the value in having coloring kits. Honestly, I'll be thrilled if we get color customization at all!

Well, if we go for kits, then every one should be able to use them. Correct me if I am wrong, but DE kits only DEs get to use, right? I have 3 droids, the only time I got them recolored was when i was talking to a DE in ref to city buildings. No one is going to pick their furniture and bring it to you. Nor do i want to run around the galaxy coloring couches. It is the reason Master Artisans Vehicle Color Kits are going to "everyone can use."

So either your kits stagnate until someone (probably someone who speicallizes in interior design) buys ONE, or you run around colorizing couches.

But if someone calls me and say, "Hey I need a blue living room set. How long for you make it?" I'll be like, "Give me 15 mins."

Oh well, it looks like I'll be in the minority here.

Most of my customers ask "Hey can you make furniture in /this\ color?"

All I can say is "No"

I would rather say "Sure, you got 10 to choose from, ck my vendor"

Even if "Only new furniture can be colored" after the initial rush (ala newly experimented harvesters) you will only be selling kits if you are lucky. Not new and exciting colored furniture.
