I would very much like to seehouses that had different doors. Other than being convenient, there are some interesting possibilities if this can be made to happen:
- Addition of a back door. In many player cities, there are player organized events where the promoters would like to charge admission. These include "gladiator" tournaments, entertainment shows, "secret" guild meetings, and more. By creating a ring or houses (or more likely a square) with one or more of those houses having a back door, the merchant admission fees could be used to charge admission, or the entry list could be used to limit access to this area.
- Ability to "lock" doors. The potential here is significant... but the best scenario in my mindis that locking a door can ONLY be done by the owner (much like a name change). This would allow an owner to designate administrators who could manage items in a portion of the structure who would not have access to any locked rooms. Perfect for malls, guild halls, etc.

How do you make a ring of houses to block people out? Why wouldn't people just walk around the houses? There's always a manditory space around houses. Isn't there?

I think the back door to restricted areas would be frowned upon by the devs. Although I like the idea of creating the restricted areas.
The locking door idea is wonderful and has my full support! It will effectively allow the owner to divide the house into two access zones. And it shouldn't be too hard to impliment.

On Tempest, there are multiple player cities who have chosen to configure themselves in this manner. Small and Medium Generics can be placed right against one another. Also, folks haveachived this temporarily for special events by making the ring of houses (usually via cross server lot trades) and then temporarily placing the final house to completely enclode the area... then re-deeding it at the close of their event. It actually can be a problem if they make the ring around their shuttleport, though I personally haven't encountered that.

I think many people have requested an Arena to be a player city building for this type of thing.
IMHO they could replace the theater with this building.

they wont take out the theatre because they just added new content for entertainers that involves the theatres.
it was listed in one of the recent publish update lists.
something to the effect of you can talk to the 'manager' of the theatre and get an audition, then a contract to play there and after so long, and entertaining some npcs you get to learn a new dance or song.
see the entertainer board if you really want to know.

I personally live in a player city on a row of medium generics that are snugged right up against one another... you can see between them thanks to the little foundation lip that goes around them, but you can't walk or ride through. The Naboo houses actually merge together, though, forming a solid wall. That works with both the small square version as well as the medium Naboo. I have no clue about houses on other planets.

Those theatre managers only exist in Guildhall Theatres located in large Cities on major planets. It does not apply to Player city theatres.
In fact I dont knwo of any player city that actually uses a player theatre for anything.
