Thread: Harvester Agressive spawns are coded in. Its done on purpose!

After 8 hours of grinding I gathered enough $$ to pay maintence for my 5 extractors and generators. When I went to my Wind Generators, a red con aggressive groupe of 7-8 npcs appeared. Every time I went to a generator or mineral extractor, red conn aggressives were either there already, or suddenly "appeared."

This is not a coincidence! Its on purpose!

This is just a time sink BS. I had almost forgotten SOE created Ever Time Sink Quest.

I put my skill advancement on hold for 3 days soI could set up thoseextractors in order to get resources I couldnt possibly mine myself. Its too mind-numbing. But what do I get? Wasted time. There is no way I can get to those extractors.

Theyre doing this on purpose as a time sink. What am I going to do? Hire people to kill those things? I dont think so.

No wonder you have to go so far from town to place them. Its not to prevent urban blight. Its to 1-force you to walk all the way over there [time sink 1], and 2- to prevent rioting by 80% of the players. If they allowed these near towns, the impossible red conn spawns would kill every newbie near town from Talus to Rori and people would cry foul. I know Id be one that would run to town to hide and to hell with anyone who ran into the train of aggressives behind me.

I mean lets face it, if I was a Marskman who didnt craft or have extractors/harvesters, I wouldnt give a rats @$$ about this. By keeping the problem far enough from town, they ensure less people have to face the consequences of this coded in BS and thus fewer complain.

Huh?

Coded in? Prove that please. My old harvesters would only sometimes have aggro mobs around them. It's just a result of the dynamic spawn system. Myself, I'd always be able to manuever around them. There's no real way to fix this though...easily exploited if harvesters prevent mobs from spawning near 'em.

I've had a minimum of 8 harvesters and/or windmills at all times since the second week of live play. I'd say that there are MOB spawns near them fairly frequently, but just as often there's nothing. Often times they are aggro, sometimes they aren't. Usually I can get around them and maybe have to crawl on my belly a little.

Last night was the first time I actually could *not* get to my harvester because a family of shauputs decided to hang out literally right next to it. Oh and I also couldn't access my windmill because a rocky shelter had spawned inside of it!

Anyway, I think the better explanation is that harvesters tend to form in clumps, since lots of people want those resources. And the more traffic there is in an area, the more spawns there are there.

THe funniest thing I've seen is when I set up an ore harvester where there were maybe only 2 or 3 others out there already. As soon as my construction finished, <POOF> a giant gungan tower appeared right next to it. There were 3-4 gungans hanging around it, and the thing must have been 6 stories tall with a large stone wall around it.

The next day I went back and it was gone. I like the idea of the dynamic spawn system, but the execution could use a little work.

Only two times have my harvesters ever had an aggro POI on them. You are mistaken and/or frustrated at your bad luck in choosing a place to set your harvesters.

I think the Devs did this (as so many other things) by accident. The harvester (being owned by you) are counted similarly to way a person would be counted, so it is like a lot of people there, and thus nastier mobs spawn. One way out is to not place too many in one small area.

Myth I had this exact same problem with my house even posted a gripe on the Blood fin boards etc. I found a soluton to this. Get a ProBot (i paid 15k) sik him on the reds. While they are dukeing it out run up and grab yor **edit**. just have in mind what yor going to do and do it fast. The bot will last long enough if yoyur smart about it.

I think it might be because ground amenable to placing structures is also amenable to spawning mobs. I'm not sure how their spawn system works, but I tend to see more mobs on flatlands than on hills and such (I'm guessing to prevent that embarrassing "floating structure hanging off a cliff" and other such permutations). Maybe that's how the problems are linked.

If it's coded in good, if it's totally random good as well. Either way it just adds to the games 'reality'. Life isn't fair, sometimes everything is rosey and sweet and sometimes it just plain sucks. I've gone days without any spawns on top of my harvesters then suddenly had Swoopers all over them oneday. I said to myself, "self, those are your harvesters over there fixing to start rotting and those swoops just plain aren't gonna cooperate", therefore I surmised that my only option was to logout and complain about it on the boards ... not ...

What did I do, I called a few of my growing number of friends via the wonderful e-mail system and within 30 minutes the swoops were heading for the hills and we were sitting around a campfire telling stories, talking over eachothers crafting and surveying discoveries and generally having a much better time than sitting in front of a craft station endlessly pounding the same key combinations in hopes of becoming mister ubah-crafter.

For a while, every time I went to my harvesters I had to evade a dark jedi master. That was fun.

I've had Imperial spawns (I'm declared Imperial) happen around my harvesters about as frequently as aggressives.

It's random. Sometimes the luck is with you, sometimes it's not. One person having a bad day does not a trend make.
