Thread: Left architecture to explore other fields, but here's my experience with Architect.
I was an architect, for let's say, a week. I was selling small houses on Bloodfin in Corellia for 16.5k, sometimes 10 when I just wanted quick cash, but normally 16.5k (oh and 17.5k for generics because I rarely had them made and had to go out of my way to make them). I would sell factories for 60k, again discounted when I was just trying to make some quick cash. Medium Houses would go for 50k. Furniture I would generally give some away for free. Then sell the rest at a rather low price. I got pretty decent money for the week I was an architect.
Now why did I stop being an architect. I had 8 personal and 1 medium harvester on Carbonate Ore. Sunday this rolled over and I was left with just about nothing except stockpiled resources for orders. Then it struck me, I can make a LOT more money selling resources and can get better in a combat profession. I have sold roughly 50% of my stock of resources and have about 50 structural modules left. Not once did i complain about the market price on houses. If people were selling their's cheap - I would buy it and resell it minutes after they left.
Another gripe I constantly read is - wahhh weaponsmiths and armorsmiths can sell stuff with less resources for more money. Well, shut your pie hole. Architects didn't have to care about the quality of materials. I think the ore in the first 5 of my houses had like 100 quality. Houses came out fine. Also with crits, those of you with streaks your just unlucky. In my entire time as an architect where I probably made 20 small houses, 5 mediums and a couple factories - I had 3 crits. One on a wall module, one on a generator turbine and one on a structural module. Mind you it woulda sucked to screw up a final combine, but that's the way the game works. Think of it as a hurricane hitting a house that just got built. It CAN happen in real life and DOES happen in Florida.
For all the aspiring architects, I recommend you get there making heavy axes. It's the fastest and easiest. Sure it takes a mess of resources. But Put those harvesters up, do a couple missions a day to pay them and get to crafting. Also - this may not be possible now, I don't know but craft while sampling. It makes the time go by faster and you dont run out of resources AS fast. I would alternate hours between getting Org Chem and Arch. Oh and one other thing, you might want to rethink becoming an architect. Yes, already, in the first 2 weeks. It's probably going to get to the point where everyone who wants a house has one. Unless they add more furniture in and change the way some houses look (which I'll get into in another post) there's going to be very little growth once the people who care about medium and large houses get them.
In retrospect I probably could have sold more crafting stations than houses, and made about twice the money in the long run - but doesn't matter. I enjoyed my time as an architect very much. And one last word for the complainers about the economy. This crap happens, odds are if your complaining you fall into one of the following categories:
A. You don't really want to be an architect, but you grinded that 33k exp and feel it necessary to keep architecture.
B. You shouldn't have been an architect in the first place because you have NO people skills and therefore can not sell houses for crap.
C. Realize everyone will soon have a house - which was inevitable. Unfortunately the only way to counter this problem is for the dev's to A - build better houses for tatooine and corellia or B - make a much wider range of usuable furniture.
D. You like complaining - your a whiner.
To all of the architects that helped me. Thank you. Especially Disciple on Corellia. Even though I may not like SOME of his prices some of the time - he's by far the most helpful architect I've come across (besides the other one in my own PA of course). So if your looking for a house on Corellia, Bloodfin- or anywhere on bloodfin look for 'Retro' or 'Disciple'. That is all.

I'm also giving up architect after working with it for almost a week.
I liked it .. I think .. building structures as a business appealed to me alot, but now I see it doesn't really work out ...
You make some good points, my main problem is everyone who wants a house, no matter the size, already does or can easily get one within a week or two.
I always thought being an architect selling houses would bring me alot of money, to set up really advanced harvesters and run a business - it doesn't work that way
Any of the combat classes that can do missions can make more than an architect, although tedious, missions bring in alot of money. Heck, even a creature handler who tames rancors and sells them makes alot more than an architect. Making factories and selling them was good money for a while, but by now, what armor/weaponsmith doesn't have a factory?
Kind of dissapointed with architect, houses are a bit easy to get, considering you can get a few on your first day of playing if you want.
I had a good time playing the class, but now unless there are lot +bonuses added to say .. the construction tree, I think i'll have to switch over to a combat class
I can't seem to sell all the houses I made anymore for more than 6k or so, they are really easy to find, and I bet eventually you will see them on the bazaar. =(

As Master Architect using the best resources I can find and using experimantation I only got 60% durabilty on a final deed one time. Ther is no way you got 100 durabilty. Also it is clear from talking to people who have bought PA halls from me that the durability of the deed is affecting the cost of maintenece on the hall. Don't tell type of resources don't matter I seen PA halls as high as 4k credits per day to operate and I have seen them as low as 2k a day to operate.

Were they the same PA Hall. Tatooine takes 7 lots and the other 9, so the maintance between them may be different to. If they were the same then quality matters.
Naboo PA hall is 9 lots.... I built one last week for my guild, and placed it...
