This probably won't solve all problems, but it has helped a few people.

Sometimes when placing furniture in your homes, the items will get lost in or through the walls. I had this happen to me with a small bed, it went through the wall and outside. I could select it from outside my house, but you are unable to pull up the radial menu from outside.

So, here's a suggestion that might help!

Go outside and select your item. With the item still selected, go back in to your house and hit your Tilde-key [~] to bring up the radial menu, and hopefully you will be able to pick it up from there.
