Thread: 1st BER 13 Heavy
First things first....thank you to all of the adepts in this forum in helping understand the nuances of crafting structures.
Last night I reached enough xp to gain heavy harversters and immediately ran out and bought enough resources to make 1 heavy mineral harvester. (Thank you Tok and Bersi -shameless plug). I/burstrun to my crafting station to makethe necessary schematics.Donning my+1structure xpwork smock, I cranked out a 6 ber mining unit andknew I had a shot at making a 13 on my first go. I paitently waited outside my newly established factory (Urlrayy's Big Hunk O'Metal) while my power gen, ore mining unit, and small structure storage units were manufactured and crated up. The wait was unbearable - 10 mins felt like hours. Soon the final reminder email chirped in my inbox and I quickly raided the hopper for my goods and /burstrun back to my house (its only 200m, but what the heck). With crossed fingers, I watched and experimented...praying for no crits. With my last box of experimentation, the ber jumped up to 13. woo hoo.
Now there is a point to this message...other than my excitement. I appreciate all the information generated by others in this forum. Whether its pricing or crafting tips, you can find it here.
Noobs - practically everything needed to succeed as an arch is posted in this forum. Check it out.
Thanks again! Urlrayy/Tarquinas
Good job. Its nice to see someone excited about it. ![]()
But don't be too crushed if next time your experimentation gives you a "moderate success" and you end up with a BER11 or BER12. I'd say somewhere around 1/3 to 2/3 of experimentations give you something other than the max. Haven't done a count but it seems sometimes I can get a perfect BER13 first try and other times it takes 2-3 tries with BER11 or BER12 results.
My first heavy (back before experimentation) was a fusion - which critical failed on inital assembly, eating all my resources.
Now that you've made one, hold off to make another one for awhile, if you can. Get enough resources for a batch of generator turbines (50+), small structure storage modules (150+), and ore mining units (50+). As you did before, pay close attention to the resources for the OMU and experiment it up high. Then grab some walls and good stuff for final assembly and go for a schematic. I know it hurts when you first start to watch a whole heavy harvester of resources get eaten to generate the schematic, but once you succeed in getting one for BER13, then you have enough stuff to make 20+ more of that caliber. If you hand build 20 you will NOT make 20 13's. Remember that you don't have to have all of the walls to make 20+ initially - you can crank the harvesters out in batches of 1-3 as you get walls in.
Again, congratulations. Keep up the good work.
Aye, congrats !!! Did you need to be a Master Architect to be able to have enough experiment points (considering that your using 910+ material)??? I'm nowhere near a Master yet (only Construction II), and I'm wondering when it might be worth trying.
I agree that schematics are the way to go. That way instead of getting completely hit or miss results on your experimentation you get 1-2 low BER and then a schematic and then perfect results until your materials run out. However it can be a big investment in materials if you're doing heavies. You might want to focus on producing mediums initially until your business picks up to the point where you can invest in the materials to do schematic runs for heavies.
