Thread: factory questions
I'm a weapons and armour crafter and I'm looking to buy a factory to help create basic armour and weapon components. I was wondering how much dothey cost to buy and maintain? How many lots do they require? Will i need one for weapons and one for armour or is there just a generic factory that can make any schematic?
I'm especially keen to hear from architects on eclipse as that is my main's server.

I'm on Bloodfin so I don't know the pricing on your server but factorys generally run 30-60k as a rough estimate of what you will be spending.
Unfortunately you will need different factorys for weapons and armor. An equipment factory for the weapons and a Clothing factory for the armor.
Alfred, on Tatooine sells factories of all types for 60,000c per factory.
They require two land slots. An Equipment factory will produce weapons, you'd need a Wearables Factory to produce armor as well.
They maintain at a fairly low rate of 25 and only consume power when actually operating. They are a great investment, if you can keep resources coming in. Well worth their cost to purchase and maintain.
Maybe this is a stupid question but I must ask: do you get crafting experience when your factory creates items?
thanks
Yes you do! HOWEVER, as I so rudely discovered yesterday, you MUST remain within an unspecified distance WHILE the factory is working to receive the XP.
I think you're safe within 100m of the factory, but I'm not certain. I fired mine up yesterday and ran to Mos Entha (700m away) to grab some stuff. I saw my XP hop 500 points twice (each component I was making gives 500XP) and forgot about it, unitl I got the email saying the 50 components were finished. I checked my XP again and hadn't received a single additional XP point!
Moral of the story is, stay close to it while it's running or you risk losing a LOT fo XP, I lost 24,000!
TGPO,
What percent of the experience are your getting? And on what items? I seem to be getting various percent (percent of what I would get if I had hand-crafted) depending on what I am making. Of course I didn't know about the 100m range thing, so that may be the cause.
Now that I am master I don't care too much about exp anymore, so I haven't tested this in a while.

Hi all,
I'm a smuggler by trade so I'm not as familiar with all of the artisan aspects, one of them being factories. I can make FANs and laser knives (and eventually molecular cllamps) manually, but would really like to look into a factory to make them in bulk. Can anyone provide good info on what factories typically cost, any power requirements (and how I supply power) etc? Just some good startup requirements would be great. Or could you send me to a previous thread or wesbite with this info?
Thanks in advance for any help. I appreciate it.
1) How many plots does a factory take?
2) What is hourly/daily maintainence rate?
3) What is hourly/daily power requirements?
4) What is cost to convert a factory back to a deed?
5) How big of a footprint do they have?
6) I think I heard they produce 1 point of complexity per minute. Is this correct?
7) Equipment factory is indeed the right one for weaponsmith right?
8a) Do you tend to put up for factory, run it a couple days and recover it, or do you just leave it there?
8b) When not producing, I assume it would use no power, but still some maintainence. Is the Maintenence rate lower when not running?
Thanks for your help!!

One lot for everything except architect structure factory, which is two.
1440 maint/day, 50 power/hour when it's producing items, no power consumption when not in use. Maintenance rate is constant.
2500 or 3000 to redeed, not sure.
Footprint is 2 or 3 units square.
Production time in seconds = 8 * complexity * quantity
Equipment factory makes all artisan and weaponsmith items.
I leave my factories up because I use the output hoppers as storage, and I won't be able to fit all the stuff in them into my house if I redeed (which sucks because of that bug limiting you to 100 items a day unless you redeed)
If i have a factory but don't turn it on, will my maintainance fee or power decrease?
