Trying to grind though the line while still makeing some money. I am also a merchant and this is not a holocron thing for me. I want to work my way through the class quickly so I can work on armor or weapons as well.

So which line should I do first? Is there any other advice you might have?

thanks for your time.

I became an architect for the crafting...not for a holo

I would recommend getting Installations I so that you have the medium mineral and vapor harvester schematics and then working your way up the construction line to get the experimentation points so that you can improve them to the max BER. Then, get Installations II to get the other mediums. This will give you a source of income while you work your way throughthe rest of the trees. The Furniture line is usefull because the assembly points will help reduce the crit fails...always a major annoyance!

For continued income as you grow, try and find a veteran architect on your server and offer to sell him wall units. Work out a price on them and make them by the boat load. While not as fast as statues to craft, they amount to about the same XP and resources...but you have a salable product. You can find many references to making craft macros to ease the tedium of making the structural modules so that you only have to do resource clicking and you should be off and running in no time!

If your main goal is to have a product line for sale...and factories are going to be your assembly medium of choice...then you can probably get by with being a 0/4/2/0 architect. You'll have to decide that yourself.

I think that there are different approachs. The problem with going up Installations is that you can't make decent high-rated harvesters until you get to the top of the Construction tree. I climbed Installations first, but that was before harvester experimentation.

If I were to do this again today, I think that I'd build myself up as a resource miner first - take all of the profits for a week or two and re-invest them in high-rated harvesters. That gives you the harvesting capactity to sustain you as an architect sooner than if you build them yourself. Then after I got a decent fleet of harvesters going, throttle back on selling the resources and instead start grinding walls with them. Either keep the walls for your own future use, or find a Master Architect to sell them to.

Given that plan, I would then go up Furniture first. Particularly if you are comfortable with managing vendors, you can make a decent living selling furniture. Furniture has the advantage that it can be sold on the Bazaar as well as your vendor, so you can put stuff on the Bazaar and use the "description" to steer people to your vendor. You can get a stream of income AND start building your reputation and customer base. Then as you start making houses and harvesters, you'll have some people who know you and stop by your vendor.

Welcome to being an architect! Hope you have fun with it.

I would have to say there are a few different strategies, but trying to make harvesters isn't a good one, as most people who've been around a while know to look for a high extraction-rate on harvesters, so you need at least construction 4, and then you would want furniture so you have less risk of losing all the resources it takes to make a harvester. If you have plenty of resources, though, then a critical failure isn't so make-or-break and you can delay furniture. If you're a struggling architect, your best bet is factories and houses, since the masters can't make stuff any better than you. Or you could get master artisan and pump out the personal harvs from a factory that you've made to help finance your climb. Regardless, I'd say if it's a constant struggle to get enough resources, get furniture 4 as soon as possible so you lose less stuff in the creation process.

I thought they did away with the 'critical failure' penalty during Assembly? You fail, yes, but you don't lose any of the resources. There is still 'critical failure' and terrible results during the Expertimentation phase. Can anyone verify that there is no 'critical failure' penalty during Assembly?

I can verify - when make an "installation" (not furniture) you can still CF during initial assembly, but the resources stay there. You just hit the button again.

If your grinding through the line and want to make money I'd recommend furniture. The resources needed are minimal and OQ doesn't matter. After you haveFuniture IV you can grind through the other lines.Furniture in turn can easily be sold at the Bazaar. Also your dabbling in alot, I'd recommend going to Allakhazam.com and use the Character Builder to see how your Skill points work out, you'd hate to grind and then realize your not going to acheive a skill you really wanted
