Last week I had a factory poof so thinking that it was because I was remiss on maintenance, I made absolutely sure that I dumped money into the remaining factories. Now this week 7 more factories have disappeared! I checked my Email and sure enough, I got one Email per factory that it was damaged dated Dec 7th and they disappeared on Dec 8th. I hope someone can shed some light on this because I am 100% postive that the factories had ample maintenance as of last week. Any ideas? I am still waiting on my CS ticket but I am also pretty postive that they aren't going to do a d*mn thing about it. "Sorry for your loss, we cannot reimburse yada yada...."

Yer prolly SoL. About 2 weeks ago my husband had 2 food factories disappear. At the time they were "destroyed due to lack of maint", both were running. We all know that factories that are damaged arent supposed to run. I had about 4million in duralloy stored in them so we put in a ticket to get the items back.
According to the control H .. it takes 4-5 days for a factory to decay once it starts to take damage. Their reimbursement policy says they cant replace factories but can replace items within at the discretion of the CSR. First I gota clueless CSR who said he wasnt allowed to reveal the amount of time it takes for a factory to decay. When I mentioned SOEs own information on this, he says "the game is working as intended".
So I put in another ticket and was told, too bad it was maint. I explained to them once again that the factories were still running 2 hours before therefore it was a "bug" on that and a bug that it decayed so fast. I was then told too bad and that if I put in another ticket, a warning would be put on my account for abuse of the CSR system. (no I didnt cuss nor was I beligerant, I used to work in telemarketing so I am very careful of this.)
If you get this taken care of, you are pretty lucky and great for you. I wouldnt hold my breath tho sadly
If anything pushes me away from this game it will be SOE itself. Keeping their customers happy on any level doesnt seem to be a priority these days.

Here's a question for you:
Did a "lair" spawn on the factory location? I swear I had 3-4 days of power/maintenance on all my harvesters when I logged on Tuesday. Thurs night I went to one harv, and thought, "That's odd. It's burning/smoking due to lack of maintenance???" When I opened hopper -- poof -- no resources havested and it was out of power/maintenance pools. I'm certain the harv right next to it had the EXACT same pools and it was fine. The only difference between the two was that a camp had spawned on top of the empty harv. Damn Ranchers...

Nope no spawn. The factories were within the limits of my city.

I know two people (both in the same guild) who have lost factories in the past two days. Both were used for storage, both had plenty of credits, and neither received email warnings about them decaying. Furthermore, CRS doesn't care.

If you have a problem like this make sure to do a /bug report as well.
I'm sure CSRs don't submit bug reports and I'm pretty sure the 2 systems are entirely separate.
I had a factory poof on me around a month ago on my alt and it was full of high quality flora and hides.
So I feel the pain. I thought I had more maintenance in it but honestly can't say for sure.

I have lost a factory too, used for storage and I am certain it was paid up. I usually dump a ton of creds in to avoid any problems. I went to check on it, and it was missing. I got no emails or anything about it beginng to decay. Only fortunate part is I can't remember what I stored in it, so it lessens the pain slightly, but I did know there were some good resources and such in there.
I got the same CSR response, too bad, so sad.

I lost 2 factories just a day ago, one was making 50 heavy mins, the other was on a run of 1000 structural modules.
That has decided me, finally.
So long everybody, and thanks for all the fish!

I lost a factory and 2 old school fusion harvs (that happened to be located near-by the factory) about 3 months ago. CSR's didnt care, they told me that i should be sure to have them somewhere that players will frequent as you may not be prompted via email about maintenance unless a player ventures by which forces the server to "load" the structures, and as a by-product check for maintenance, etc. I told them that was an absurb fix to an obvious problem they were having on their end. And for the record, all 3 structures were more then fine on maintenance and they were in a well trafficed area so the CSR's "tips" were useless.
Then about 3 weeks ago I lost a Structure factory FULL of crates of 'all' the previous bestine paintings, a pack full of killer resources, and a freakin TON of crates of high-end architect components. Extremely painful to say the least. It made me not want to craft for awhile. The CSR's were downright rude about it as usual and werent willing to help me on any level. He told me that if i had proof when i payed maintenance last that he might be willing to help me out with lost items. How the heck am i suposed to have proof of that? Take screenshots when i pay maintenance? even that wouldnt mean anything really. Blech.
Oddly enough all of these structure poofs have happened in the same general region so im wondering if its a location thing. There are a fair amount of spawns all around this area Hmmm...

I lost 3 food factories, and a structure factory about the same time span. Sounds to me like SWG had a major bug about then, as the stories all sound exactly like mine. I did get an email about maintenance, figured I would go fix them in three or four hours when I had time, but when I got there they were gone. Given the horror stories I've heard about the CSR's not being willing to replace the lost contents, and having no "proof" as to what was in them, and to be honest not even being sure which of three toons they were on, it was just a big old sigh and carry on. With the BE tissues, med items, and structural items I must have lost over 3 million in that poof.
The thing that seems odd is that I then placed new factories in the same area and had a real problem with inventory items disappearing when I went to put them in the input hopper. Even made the mistake of wearing my chef crafting outfit out there and lost half of it! GASP!!! There goes another 3-4 mill - and I really don't have that kind of money to replace all of this.
The answer I got to the second problem was that they thought it was on a server boundary and suggested I move the crafting buildings and factories. BTW,this lost inventory on server boundaries became a top known issue Dec 7, same day my crafting outfit disappeared.
I have moved everything since, what a ton of work that is when you have 4 to 5 buildings full of resources, etc. Things do seem much more stable, and I have like 50k maintenance in each factory now, so hoping this will keep them in game for a day or two.
One thing that surprised the stuffing out of me, the CSR's have actually been very co-operative in working to try and find my crafting outfit, and apparently are trying to restore it. They tracked down the exact name, which they need to do the restore, and said they will put it in my inventory when it reappears. Not sure when that will be, but it sounds hopeful at least. A lot more positive than "sorry for your loss" or "its functioning as it should be" that we seem to often get
Anyways, my question is: Is it possible that this factory disappearance issue is related to this server boundary issue?
The CSR's didn't seem to be able to tell me where the boundary was btw, just that I needed to move everything at least 100m

Wow! I have to say I am very impressed with the effort and assistance that CSR-shanek, CSR-houstonr, CSR-jonw, and CSR-beverlyY put in for me recently. I have to admit that I've had my share of "the game is working as intended" and "we appologise for the inconvenience but there is nothing we can do" kind of replies to my tickets in the past, and I almost didn't put one in this time... but I did and I must say I am very impressed and happy.
As mentioned above, Dec 7, it seems many of us were having problems with stuff disappearing while moving inventory items across server boundaries. In my case, this resulted in about half of my chef crafting outfit disappearing. You can immagine how disconcerting that was!!!
I was able to describe the missing items, but did not have the exact names, etc. nor to be honest was I sure exactly where the clothes had disappeared, as I had been fighting this inventory problem with resources and traveling to my factories all afternoon. The CSR's managed to track down possible names, I chose the appropriate ones, and presto, my stuff is back!!!
Proof that pleasantly worded, detailed service tickets can get results
WOOT WOOT WOOT
Thank you very much CSR-shanek, CSR-houstonr, CSR-jonw, and CSR-beverlyY
Cheers,
