I am actually pretty curious about this and can't get a straight answer. You see... factory times are now based on structure complexity. This is something new. So my theory is... if you are able to lower the complexity, will it reduce factory times? And it looks like your in the perfect position to test my theory. Care to try?
It's fairly simple. Craft a item for a factory run. Make a few and see how long it takes by when you examine your factory. It will have a time there. Now make a schematic using the mod. See if the time is the same.

Structure complexity tapes do not have any effect on factory times. I've tested it.

Well there goes my theory.. thought maybe no one had ever had enough complexity to see a difference.. i.e you would need +10 to reduce the item complexity by 1... guess these tapes are just there to make us want something we cant have... I know most would say reducing complexity is pointless, but when you make 1000 unit runs of Structural Moduals, taking 18 hours, knocking even 8000 seconds off the run would be nice..

I've got +11 complexity that I've collected just for kicks. I was hoping the same thing that the complexity points would help when doing factory runs. It kind of made sense. But ya I think for now at least the tapes are just there to tease us.
