Thread: Letters I wish I could Send My Momma.. (GCW Issue) 5-4-04
I want to tell you that I love you .. I cannot come home as of yet because this war is not over. You and I both know that I must do my part to help squash this rebellion. I am writing this letter to let you know that the rebel scum have discovered that my company has been supplying the emperor with the highest quality Bases and turrets. I know this because this morning the Protocol Delivery Droid that normally delivers me resources I need had been tampered with and had a detonation device installed within it. Sadly one of my apprentices was killed in the blast. The explosion was followed by a small force of rebels trying to gain access to my schematics that I use to help fortify the grand emperor's bases. Luckily there happened to be an imperial detachment arriving at my shop to pick up an order of turrets that quickly squashed these weak rebels.
I truly Love you Mom, if I don't make it home please don't be sad for my Death will bring Honor to our family and our beloved empire. I am proud that you raised me to not be fooled by this rebellion propaganda..

This sounds like an excellent idea!!
I do foresee complaints about the following:
A.) Doubled cost. 1. Costs faction points to get the schem. 2. Costs money to pay the crafter.
B.) Ability to give faction perks to people who have not earned them. You pay the FP to buy an at-st. You sell the AT-ST to a crafter. The crafter builds the AT-ST and sells it to another player who has not made the FP. I don't see a problem with this, but I do know they must have made faction pets untradeable for a reason.
I loved the letter format by the way, it was excellent.

I loved the letter format by the way, it was excellent.I take offense to the implication that a rebel would try to assasinate you however! We are above such tactics! (crosses fingers behind back) Perhaps you spilled a drink on an imperial officer at a party or something? Or maybe you shouldn't have called Vader's fortress on Vjun a "hovel!"

as far as A .. that is why there should be a slight faction cost reduction...
and as of B .. Yeah .. there is a small point there.. but what really is the difference of someone straight buying faction points to get this pet anyway .. once the deed is activated.. then yeah should no longer be tradeable...
as far as the issue on the rebellion... I cant help if you have a guilty conscience ![]()
Or a country bumpkin with a light saber.

ok .. as we all know that the conversations about these issues with the devs are private until permission is given to open it up.. I will tell you that this topic is VERY active in debate right now.. I just wanted to add the second letter I sent to momma.. that I used as an example to a few of our ideas of future possibilities.. Do not take this as any sign of any progress please..
Dear Mom,
Today was another exciting day .. I had a high profile commander order an advanced base from me.. it was obvious the rebels knew about this because imperial rangers were tracking bounty hunters hired to assasinate me. The risk was so great we decided to hire a smuggler that has done some work for the empire getting goods deep inside rebel lines, to secretly move my needed materials and plans to a hidden compound on Lok. After my materials were supplied I had to hire an image designer to give me a disquise so that I could travel un noticed to Lok to finish my work..
Once there I was met with a rather large detachement of Imperial troups that were assigned to gaurd me While I worked.. The bounty hunters managed to track me down .. but thankfully the rangers we able to warn my guards to the rebel forces that the bounty hunter had led to our location in time that they were prepared to defend our production. Upon completion I received orders that this base was to be build on Talus. With the attention we already recieved it was best to use our Smuggler contact to move the finished product to the building sight on Talus.. While guards fought out front the Smuggler was able to get Me and the finished goods out the back .. and safely delivered..
The battle was close buy I am happy to tell you mother that today was a good day for the Empire..
Love
Dvnce...
The person "buying" the schematic gets a non-tradeable "Key" in addition to the schematic. The key cannot be traded. The item crafted with the schematic (multi-use or not) must be "turned on" with the "Key". You drag and drop the key on the deed/item, and this activates the item for regular use. So, Joe Imp buys an At-St schematic, and gets a 2-use schematic and a single key. He takes the schematic to a DE. The DE gets components from a WS and AS, then crafts the At-St. The deed is useless until it is turned on with the key. The DE trades the new deed to Joe Imp, and Joe drops the key on the deed, and the deed is used and a new At-St appears in his datapad.
I should have known you were an imp. /flail

I think its a good idea. I think that crafting GCW items might just be the one size fits all solution for us.
Regarding crit fails, I think they could just turn off crit fails on the factional 1 use schematics just like they turned them off for our buildings.]
YES .. as of now structure or structure componants do not have a chance for crit fail.. so that is not really a problem.. as far as the rest of the items.. weapons, furniture, armor, the faction costs arent near as that of structures so that is part of the risk ... ( same as handing over that krayt tissue)
hehe.. I had to run delivery missions to pay for dancing lessons that allowed me to dance to pay for architectual school. The emporer happened to pay me more.. ![]()
