Thread: How does resource Overall Quality affect Architects?
Does it have anything to do with success/crit fail rate?

I have no evidence that resource quality affects the final outcome or chance of success on any item made in the architect tree. I have tried many different tests to see if there was a change but have been unable to see a difference.
I have heard rumors that experementation helps, that materials matter, etc. I would like someone to give me a specific example of how they got a change, so that I can repeat it and see for myself.
Right now the consensus of all the architects I have spoken to on this subject is this: resources and experementation do not matter at all currently in Architect.
Prove that wrong. Remember, if it can't be reproduced, its a worthless opinion ![]()

I might be nuts, but it seems to me, having built hundreds of components with various materials, that the lower-grade bulk materials SEEM to be better for making buildings. I usually score higher with lower-quality/higher-yield materials than if I use something very good.
For example, I made some Structural Units with a high-grade steel and they all seemed to score abnormally low (~5%), but when I made them with a low-grade and much more abundant type of steel the quality appeared much higher (~20%). All were made with the same (low-quality) Low Grade Ore.
It might just be me, but this is what I've been seeing.
I guess its understandable as houses don't degrade and such. Or do they?
Just a guess, based on what I've seen. Keep in mind I'm not scientifically tracking his or even taking notes, just what I observe.
It appears that higher-yield/lower-quality resources work better or just as well as lower-yield/higher-quality resources when building structures.
This isn't true (I don't think) of ALL components involved in the maikng of a building (turbines, for example probably benefit from high-quality copper), but the bulk pieces like Structural Modules and Wall seem to be great with having the lesser quality resources.

My main question is what at all do those percents matter? I can make the percents go up with resources and experementation. What I never see is that translated to the end-product.
I am also a weaponsmith. In that profession a very close attention to materials and experementation is required to make even decent weapons. From my beta and live-game experience, even if you get 100% on something in architecture, it doesnt make it better.
I tested this by making the world's best harvester and placing it next to one that I used no experementation with at all. The harvester (mineral)had good starting percents and max-experementation on both durability and capacity. I saw nodifference whatsoever in the stats or performance of either; in fact the non-exp harvester was sometimes a little more productive, but I chalked that off to the randomness of harvesting.
I would really like to be wrong here, but I just dont see it mattering. Also, I heard a rumor that experementing increases the experience gained. I have not once seen this, though I have tried hard to make this happen.

Yeah, I don't think it matters either... I've never seen a varyance in production output from one prototype to the next either.
I guess that makes all of my above theories moot... Heh...

As far as houses go...the only important thing in the final product is the maintence rate. This does not change according to "quality" Of course, if you dont keep up the maintenance and let it decay below 100%, "quality" may affect the rate that it decays. But who really cares? If you are letting your structures decay past 100% the last thing you should be worrying about is "house quality" ![]()
Likewise, harvesters and factories all have the same maitenance rate and power rate regardless of "quality" as well as all the same storage space.
So really, it means nothing.
And even if someone did prove that a higher-quality structure decayed less quickly or had a lower maintenance (neither of which I've seen), there's no way for the buyer to tell this from looking at a deed.
So how would you prove to the buyer they are purchasing a "better" structure than any other?
