Thread: Redemption for architect?

Everybody always has an opinion on how to save their profession, so I figured I would start a thread with my own two cents. Comment as you will.

When I first got the game, I knew that architect was exactly what I wanted to be. Why? Because this is something that I think I would enjoy in real life but don't have the education to do it (instead I'll settle for being a lowly programmer).

Architect has been a huge disappointment for me for one reason, the title of architect is deceiving. What the profession really is, is contractor and/or construction. An true architect designs structures, and normally somebody else handles the actual construction of the building.

What I would like to see, is housing components which can be combined into a full structure. Give options of design styles (Tatt, Naboo, Corellia, Generic, etc), and allow the construction of individual component rooms (Great room, stairs, small and medium size rooms, rooms with doors, etc.). The thought is that by letting the architect combine different components to construct a structure that there could be subtle differences in appearance and layout. This would shift the demand from basic buildings to what architect can build the combination I want?

I realize that what I am describing is unrealistic, and would basically involve a complete re-writing of the profession, but nonetheless, I wanted to toss it out there.

Constructive thoughts anybody?

Its an idea architect has talked about since its inception. You will not see it ever be like that unless the engine is restructured. I think their code is really messy.

For now you should ask for outside colors and more styles and types. Those won't even be seen until they fix their database issues.
