Thread: any word on what they are going to cap harvester extraction rates at?
I want to buy a few heavy's today but I dont want to over pay for something that will be brought down a few notches in the extraction rate department. I'd like to just get something at or around what the cap will be.
Have they said what it will be capped at for experimentation?
Personally, I sell all extractors at the same price I did pre-patch. No matter if the extraction rates turn out well or not. I just don't feel right doing that to my customers. I recently made a 10KG/h 100,000 unit hopper heavy chem and sold it toa long time customer of mine for the same price as I always have. But, I honestly don't go out of my way to experiment. So, if I make a 7KG/h 100,000 unit hopper heavy or a 10KG/h 125,000 unit hopper heavy, I sell them for the same price. And, if I can't get good experimentation results on the mining units/pumps after about 3 tries, then I just stop worrying about it. The lowest i get these days is 8KG/h 100,000 unit hoppers (which is better than what I used to sell) and I sell them for the same price as pre-patch.
I personally think that any Arch selling exp harvs for more than pre-patch prices is being very dishonest. But, that's just my opinion. Unless the Arch completely explains the situation (including the fact that the extraction rates and hopper sizes might be nerfed back to pre-patch values), then they are just not doing honest business. I'm not gonna make 10KG/h 125,000 unit hopper harvs and sell them for 1.5 times what I used to sell them for if there is still even the slightest chance of any harvs being reverted. That's just gonna end up being bad business in the end. My customers mean more to me than that.

"including the fact that the extraction rates and hopper sizes might be nerfed back to pre-patch values"
**edit**? that's going to happen?
It's still VERY much up in the air what the devs are going to do about the extraction rates on harvesters. Q3PO himself said that he didn't want us to be able to experiment on extraction rates as it would just be too powerful.
Who knows, they might leave it in. But, in Test Center, they've already put in a patch that fixed these things. I'm not gonna base all my business decisions on TC, but in TC, anything that was in Deed form at time of patch was nerfed back to pre-release extraction rates and hopper sizes. Everything that was deployed remained the same (even if you redeeded it after the patch). Now, that could very well happen exactly the same way when that patch goes live. But, no one can guarantee. So, I just don't go out of my way to experiment. And I don't charge anymore for NICE exp harvs as I do for normal ones (seeing that it only takes exp on one sub-combine to get a 10 extraction rate and who knows what might happen when patches to fix this go live). I REALLY don't think that these new extraction rates were meant to go live. I think the only reason they haven't been fixed yet is because there are MUCH bigger problems to fix before they address this one.
If you'd like me to, I could probably track down the thread about the TC changes a little later.

Here's the thread about the TC patch if you are interested. I'm probably gonna bump it back up to the top too.

Anian,
You should make sure you are up to date on your info before spreading rumors and trying to damage your fellow architects reputations. That thread you are linking is outdated. To enlighten yourself please read the following:

Extraction rates are here to stay.
Very interesting. I do appologize greatly. I try my best to stay up to date on everything I can, but I can't always do that. I had no idea that the final extraction rate of harvesters was meant to stay.
My bad. Pre-release, they had blatently said they were not going to allow exp on extraction rate. In that TC patch, they pulled it all (according to what they said they were going to do pre-release). So, I went on that. I figured that was the plan. I had no idea.
Thanks for the update guys! ![]()
