Thread: Decay and Redeeding costs...

Greetings all!

If/When harvesters become subject to a decay rate I hope that they will eliminate the cost to redeed a harvester.

Things that are currently subject to a decay rate do not have a "redeeding" fee. You do not have to pay to unequip armor or weapons right? So if harvesters are subject to decay then they should not have a redeeding fee in my opinion.

From my point of view the cost of redeeding is actually my cost to pay for decay(wear and tear) on my harvester. When I pack the harvester back up it costs me 4500 credits for a heavy to replace all the worn or broken parts. The cost to me to place and then redeed my harvester 30 times is 135,000 credits. Pre experimentation (who knows what things will be like post experimentation! :smileyhappy it would cost me about 120k for a heavy mineral harvester. So I have basically paid for a new heavy mineral harvester after I have used my heavy harvester 27 times. So I am indeed already paying for my harvesters decaying.

By introducing an actual decay rate and eliminating the redeeding fee the game will not add an additional burden onto the miners back and the game will create added demand for harvesters from architects! This seems like a win-win situation for all.

The change is that instead of that 120k going into the credit sink of redeeding costs that 120k will be going to architects and staying in the game. This is the only objection that I believe the game developers could have to this sort of change.

I think that this would be a great way to introduce harvester decay without penalizing those of us who use the harvesters. What does everyone else think?

Harvesters already decay! Thats what we pay the maintenance cost for.

Hmmm. Good point!

But they don't decay like weapons and armor to the point where they can no longer be repaired and must be replaced. I think that that is what folks are looking for, a way to have harvesters age and then have to be replaced, just like weapons and armor.
