Thread: Architect and Economy fix all in one.
The economy has too many credits according to the Devs which is hard to argue if you saw a screenshot of Flurry player with 394 MILLION credits.
The architect profession suffers from a problem of every item potentially lasting forever.
My idea is for suitably ranked faction players (Officer rank at least and perhaps Major or higher) to be able to spend a small amount of faction to get aDefense Contract from a NPC faction recruiter. This Defense Contract would then be a required component for structures used in the Galactic Civil War. The faction player takes the Defense Contract (could perhaps be dozens ofdifferent types) to an architect that's not of the opposing faction though he could be a neutral architect. That architect then builds whatever the Defense Contract calls for. The completed structure should only be deployable by the faction player who initially got the Defense Contract if it's possible to code it that way. If not, perhaps a player must have an appropriately high faction ranking to deploy various faction structures.
These structures would have very high maintenance costs and be subject to destruction or in some cases capture by enemy forces. Building, destroying, and maintaining these structures would remove significants amount of money and resources permanently from the game while injecting life into the Architect profession by giving them products to make that are no longer guaranteed to last forever as long as someone makes the maintenance payments.
Some structures could be quite cheap like defense turrets while others like a command HQ building would take a lot of varied resources in great quantity.
One change to my idea. Make the Defense Contract a special 1 use schematic used in a structure factory that requires architect built generic sub-components. That avoids the risk of having an architect crit fail the assembly and then having to give the poor guy the bad news leaving the customer to wonder if the architect was serious or if he just got screwed out of his Defense Contract.
This way a player could buy the needed parts if he wished from an architect and just make his own structure if he has his own factory, or he could give the schematic to an architect who'd then make the subcomponents and feed it into his own factory before trading the final deed back to the faction player.
