Thank you so much for highjacking the "achitect needed large order" thread on Bria Trade!! I readthat post right after he submitted it. I did a bit of figuring on that order and came up with 7.75 mil, figured I could bring it down to 7.5 mil for the whole order. I then checked my inventory.... yeah it's all in stock!!So what do I do??? Absolutely nothing!! I knew he would get a bid much lower than I would even dare to entertain, so i figured why even waste my time writing the e-mail. I did continue to watch the thread... biting my tongue the whole time!! I couldn't bring myself to say something, but I am glad the two of you did!!! I am thrilled to see someone values their time and effort enough to stand up for it!!!!!!

I usually just let that kind of thing go, it's a free world and and of course seller's have the right to pitch their prices at whatever level they feel is right, be it high or low. But for some reason this time something snapped inside of me. I think it was the non-architect bragging about how cheap he could pick up those heavies that did it. I just had to say something to dispel the idea that 65k could be in any way considered a going price for heavies, that kind of talk has a way of turning from rumour into fact, especially if there are architects out there reading it who have not settled on their own price idea yet.

I always like it when someone else who is not me decides what profit is fair for me to make.

Yeah - I usually try to let these go by also, although sometimes I've just pointed out that the price someone was looking for is well below the going price for the raw resources.

Bandola: "I estimate that at 75k per heavy you will need to sell 15,000 harvesters before you have the credits in the bank that I have..."

LOL!

I think the original posters intentions were ok as far as I'm concerned. He asked for blind bids. Thats a pretty fair way to do it and he wasn't directly pitting one architect against another.

Isn't it funny though that about 90% of the time when someone quotes an extremely low price that they don't give the name nor seem to remember when asked? You'd think if they knew a super cheap architect that they'd be telling other people about that person and passing the word, instead of forgetting their name.

YEAH I noticed that is the case too ... its always I know a friend of a friend who has a stepchild that has a pimp who knows this one guy that sells for that price..

Hehe.. My bid on that order would have been .. 8.55 mil.. ( but he could have gone that instant to my vendor to get them )

I aggree I am not going to sell my self short just because some other yahoo wants too.. 99 times out of a 100 these people do One order like this and after all the work and they see their bank account only rise up a few k credits decide they are burned out of crafting arch stuff and drop it... So no worries..

I do like the fact that the original poster ask for bid via pm or in-game email. I also like the fact that he was accepting one bid per architect. If thebidders would've resonded as he asked, my blood wouldn't have boiled. I just know on Bria (have no idea about others) that no matter what price I would have bid, someone would havebid lower. I honestly have no problem with being underbid. I realize that's the way the world works. I set my prices to move products, make a profit, and keep a stocked vendor. Maybe it's just me, but if I see items flying off the vendor, then I think "whoa I have those priced too low" not "look at my bank account grow". Then again, maybe that's why I can keep a stocked vendor!! I however, do take great pride in being able to say "yes not only can I make that _____, it's already on the vendor waiting for you!!" when I get those frantic tells. I have found that when people seek me out and find out I can usually get them what they need right now, they don't mind paying what I think it's worth. I would also like to think that the customers come back and send their friends because Ienjoy interacting!! Nah, it's probably the stocked vendors!!

My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Ferris selling heavies for 65k at Thirty-One Flavors last night.

So I guess it's pretty serious.

My bid would have been 7.6M. Exactly the price I sell for. I don't give discounts for large orders, it doesn't make sense. As I pointed out, there seems to be an inverse economy of scale in this game. It's cheaper to create. I'd much rather sell1 harvester to 50 people than 50 harvesters to 1 person. Call me fickle, but that's how I prefer to do business.

Exactly the same for me except my price worked out to the 7.75m I bid, which makes me more expensive than Donah, seems a good enough reason to put my prices up again.

This reminds me, I need to buy out the guy on Kettemoor who was selling factories for 20k and heavies for 65k... just wait till he tries to buy more resources.... Ore has been pretty hard to get for less than 3cpu lately... steel less than 2cpu. All the good materials have exploded out of the ground, so no one is gathering garbage anymore, heh....
