Hi all,

Background:

For the longest time, I've avoided making harvesters and focused only on high margin products and have been doing quite well. I'm finally at the point that all my vendors are filled with these products and have a strong, steady revenue stream going.About a week ago I decided to enter the harvester business but only at prices that I felt were appropriate (none of this yahoo stuff) but don't know what my mix should be.

I want to do factory runs and don't have an infinite amount of cash to buy all these resources .... so .... I have enough to do the following options.

(A) Lots of Mediums - 25 to 50 of each

(B) Heavies - 5 - 20 of each

(C) 3 or 4 of each heavy and medium

<takes deep breathe> Sorry for the long set-up, here are my questions

1. What would you say is the minimum volume to do a factory run for a harvester before it's not worth it. 5? 10?

2. As a whole, would you say you sell for Mediums or Heavies?

3. I'm assuming Mineral is the top seller, what are the dogs (don't sell well or infrequently)?

4. If you were me, would you do ... (a) first run of all Mediums - as many as you can afford, (b) all heavies - as many as you can afford but the total numbers will be smaller, (c) do a few of each and don't do factory runs.

Any and insight from my fellow Architects would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

anything more than 8 I will do a factory run on any harvester.

Heavies

Gas does not sell well. And having the heavies take something like 6500 good ut/sr/hr ore, I don't make these very often to sell on vendors. Hot sellers right now for me are Flora.

Can't really tell you this one. Heavies sell better usually, but it depends on who you want to market to.

My personal experience is similar to Nicklesnitz.

For me heavies seem to sell better. I get more sales of flora than others it seems. Fusions might do ok as well, it depends.

The break even for making a schematic depencs on the average failure rate during experimentation. If the failure rate is less than 10% then I'd wait till you can make 9-10 deeds before you doa schematic. But if the failure rate is closer to 33% then you could do a deed with as little as 5 deeds. And then on top of that its your decision on which you prefer more.

I've found that mediums rarely sell at all anymore on my vendors...I really am not sure why. I guess people really want that extra bit of resource per day, and are squeezed for lots? Anyway, I always keep a few mediums on a vendor, but most of my stock is heavies.

Mineral and Fusion sell the best, along with Flora. Gas is a pain to make, and Chemical is somewhere in the middle.

Id suggest waiting for as long as you can before you make a schimatic .I never do a run of less than 45ish heavies or 60ish mediums .Heavies sell alot better than mediums but mediums are ALOT easier to factory produce .Minerals/floras are the best sellers were as chems are in the middle with fusions and gas/mositure are at the bottom .If your just starting out with harvesters Id suggest going for 50 medium minerals as these are easy to produce and require very few resources as they dont use wall modules and should sell pretty well aswell .Good Luck
