How sad is this? How do they make a living? My harvs is 110k-140k. Any lower then that and i'll be packing leaving architect. Also, its limited! lol, this guy is dumping, and thats even worse then undercutting!

Like this guy that didnt understand why I didnt wanna buy ore for 3 cpu and later told me my heavy harv was expensive at 110k, he could get'em for 85k!!! Same guy said he used to be an arch but surrenderd architect becouse "It made me poor". L O L W T F O M G Z DOH!

I mean, there should be a trade/ merchant quest of some kind as req for artisan profs so they knew what they were doing!

To be fair I wouldn't blame that individual selling at 80k in particular. Prices had been dropping in general before he came along with each new guy going lower than the last. First one person was 99k or less. Then some guy had a brief stint trying to sell at around 70-80k to prove a point or something before he wandered off to be a miner. Then someone announces prices at 85k. Then someone else matched them at 85k. Now we've got someone at 80k. I wouldn't be too surprised if the next new architect that stumbles into Kettemoor sees the 80k and 85k prices and decides to sell for 75k so that they can compete.

On Kettemoor right now we've got fairly low demand. But the few people who need harvesters definitly need them. On the other hand supply is relatively low as well. I think some of the architects see the low demand and conclude they must be too expensive.

I'm sure that the folks charging less than you and I could do better profit wise if they bumped up their prices a bit.

I ran a pricing experiment over the past few weeks and my results are interesting. I'll be posting more on that shortly.

I've actually got people buying my harvesters for 130k-160k.. (Gas miners use a LOT of high quality metal. I've gotten a lot of praise for having stocked vendors, so I'm trying to do my best to keep them that way.

Now, I suspect the problem with bozos selling harvesters for so low is this: The death of hologrinding.

On many servers there are resource merchants that did tons of business because of hologrinding. They have a LOT of static harvesters that were placed through lot trades. Zofo recently left the Kettemoor resource trade and sold off his fields of harvesters to others.

What are these people with large fields of resources going to do when the demand of resources goes down? Its actually quite obvious: They go Architect.

Since 90% of their business was selling to people who didn't quite care about the quality, and since they just gathered what was underneath their harvester fields, they have and get a large ammount of bulk resources, very handy for architects to use, since we use any kind of metal, ore, and sometimes gemstone.

For a while harvester sales have been pretty down. I get some sales from friends, regular customers, and the occasional people who just can't find an architect with stock on their vendor. Just wait a while for these resource lot traders to burn out, and the fields to dissapear. Those of us who try to stay dedicated will do okay. Most of them will go shipwright when JTL comes out I wager.

Realistically, Heavies take about 28k of resources so if you're getting resources for .5 up to 2cpu, you're still making a profit. It's very *relative how much it cost you, the sale price and how much profit you or someone else wants.

Before Hologrinding, Heavies were selling about 110k and Hologrinding made the 160-180k demand.

I suspect, there are some older players who have left or PA's that have accumulated so much and want to get rid ofit. Yes, I tend to agree, there will be more 'dumping' and lower cost resources (1 cpu or less) for some time.

If there were farms of 200-300 harvesters providing for the Hologrinding and Hologrinding has ended - where do you think this stuff will go ?

And, as the professions, combat and Jedi are being re-balanced and players are staying in their selected profession longer and JTL is just around the cornerwith a few new professions - it's a good reason to get rid of whatever some have in stock so they can get on with the real game.

Hey thanks for posting this. Think I'll swing by after work and clean out their vendors then throw those harvies up on my own vendor for a more realistic price.

Nothing like making a 40-50k profit on each harvie sold without ever lifting a finger to craft or using a singleunit of my own resources.

Yep thats what I do, raid the undercutters and buy out their stocks as they put them up and them resell them on my vendors.

It has a 2 fold effect, it gives me more stock to place on the vendor, and means that their vendors are always empty, which in turn puts people going to them (as people hate going to vendors that are always empty ).

The large miners are not really the problem here as the stuff that they tend to mine are the commonly available resources where there is a high OQ (or CD in the case of Polysteel). Almost none of them ever bother to mine ore, duralloy steel, etc.

Be careful to use mules when raiding undercutters. I got myself banned from a store or 2 for this. Even though I would not buy the entire stock. As to the ore I used to mine it alot but no one wanted to pay more than 2 cpu (and who would blame them ) so I went to mostly chem unless really high stats cause ore is 40-60% in general and chem is 85-99%. Much better return on chem at any given price point. The harvesters cost the same to run no matter what they are on. I also planned to be a crafter but there was so little money in it I moved on to mining and merchant.

Did you get lost and wander into the wrong board? No? Well, I'm not interested in selling to you cheap so you can gouge me in return on raw materials purchases.

Thank you, don't come again.

I hate that prices are dropping. But if there is someone out there who is ok with the margin that they are making on their product then you need to respect that.

If you mine your own minerals, you are basically getting them for about .5 to 1 cpu. If you sell heavy harvs at 85k then you are making about 50k per harvestor you sell. Not a horrible return. Now if you have to buy your own minerals at 2-3 cpu then yes i understand how you cannot compete with these prices. My advice to you: find a cheaper source of minerals.

If he cannot keep them in stock, then he should raise prices or he will eventually lose customers, but as long as he can keep his vendors stocked and doesn't mind the low margin, i see no reason he is doing anything wrong.

Thank you kindly for the free advertisement.

But my pricing structure is based on simple principles of mass production with efficient operation. I started the operation on Kettemoor not longer than about a month ago, hence the theories of my dumping stock and what not is not true.

The # of sales I have meets my production and revenue generation goals. At a point when I have sufficient cash reserves built up, the discounted harvester prices may end, but architects must realize we are selling to a market that does not decay. Those willing to capture the market the quickest will profit the quickest.

I have had 4 accounts for a while now, and this is my first time venturing into crafting. Yes all 4 characters have dabbled in a crafting profession, including a BE and Smuggler in my mix. The original purpose of my architect was making sure I was supplied with sufficient harvesters and storage to get the other crafting professions fully stocked and operational. But the business challenge has proven to be quite interesting and I am enjoying theexcitement of balancing supply and demand.

Feel free to come raid my vendors as much as possible, I will take custom large orders even from other architects and third party resale outfits. In fact, if you order a large quantity and provide an advance, I will provide a discount on top of the prices I currently sell.

Thanks again and visit my shop in Naboo, located east of Twilight's End, Kettemoor (on planetary map). Also check out my growing artisan/resource/weapon/droid/chef/smuggler/be/tailor/armor/med product lines!
