The loot kits got me to thinking.....
It seems like a lot of the nice decorating that people are doing involves creating an object that doesn't exist in game from subcomponents of objects that DO exist in game - e.g. waterbeds with structural modules and ottomans, fireplaces with
braziers and crates, etc.
So what if a master architect could select, say 20 ottomans and two structural modules, arrange them, and then click a button to 'freeze' the configuration? He could get a 'waterbed' schematic that would produce the image, and would take 20 ottomans and two structural modules, but the final product would only be one item.
I don't know if this is codable, but it would be a boon to those of us who really like decorating... and I think it could be a good revenue stream for architects who are good at creating things like pool tables, so the general public could have them and show them off!
Just an idea, flame away.

Thats funny, as I had an almost identical idea just posted in the core systems forum. 5 - Star.

It would be kind of neat, but I'm guessing the coding for it would be to large. People would start freezing chunks of their houses together to make it only one item. Then some poor soul would include something valuable and would not be able to get it back out of the freeze and would complain.

the reason for the item count is database restrictions... i highly doubt that SOE would go for it... as nothing would be fixed... you'd still have to store it in the database... better to push for more storage in homes then some convoluted method of grouping items...

Sorry, I may not have been entirely clear. The intent would be to create new objects, purely for decoration, from existing ones.
As an example, I have a 'garden pool' in my house that consists of a fountain, about 20 potted plants, 5 alderaan flora and a couple of fileted fish. If this were allowed, I could 'freeze' the xyz placement of the items and create a schematic that would have slots for a fountain, 20 potted plants, 5 alderaan flora and 3 fileted fish. Assuming I had that much alderaan flora lying around, I could then put the schematic into a factory and create 'garden pools' that could be sold and placed by anyone in their house the same way furniture is now. The alderaan flora would be lost - you could never get them back, the same way you can't re-use looted janta blood in multiple medic schematics.
I realize it would probably be a nightmare to code, and I'm not hopeful it would be implemented, but it would be nice. There are a lot of gifted designers out there (have you SEEN the pool table!? and the bathroom?! on the home show?) and this would give them a way to create a revenue stream that wouldn't require them to have to re-place everything every time a customer wanted 'one of those cool aquariums!'
