I'd recommend reading through the FAQ.
I also have a guide for architect that I wrote at some point, there is probably a link to it in the architect section of the FAQ.

I'm grinding my way right now.
I'm trying this way.
went to 0002 (for medium houses)
then 0012 (so i could make all the factories)
now working on 0412 (for all the experimenting and i can start making harvisters)
nextI'll either finish up houses or harvister, but save furniture for the last.

I worked up the to 4004 first and began selling furniture and houses right off the bat. Since I'm not a grinder, I made my XP off structure and wall modules. I wouldn't recommend harvestors until you hit master -- no one wants less than perfect BER rates anymore and, while I can't speak for any other server, heavies are the hot seller on Starsider.

If you just want to master quickly get the skill that allows gungan head statues and grind on these as it will take about an hour or so to master and it will take 500k ore and 250k gemstones roughly to do so, as im doing that at moment with an altbut ran out of ore so mining more to finish off.
After you master whichever way you do it look at the local market and see what items are selling the best it could be harvestors as i think with the advent of jtl a lot of new shipwrights are mining for ore. I'm also considering getting some merchant skills as well as this will allow my alt to advertise on the planet map in game so any potential customers can see you there. this might also be an idea as custom orders for statues etc may come and give you an additional source of income.

Exactly the route I took too when I started. This way you can also start building up some business and reputation. I think the key here is to keep your vendors stocked at all times. There aren't that many Architects around, and when people find a stocked Architect, they almost always check your vendors first when they need something. If they can find the items the second time too, you have a customer for life.
